Rescue Beauty Lounge Swatches: Sheers, Neutrals and a Red!

I'm sure you all know how much I love Rescue Beauty Lounge. I tried it on a whim and now I'm hooked. The colors, the formula, the bottles, the brushes, all perfect. Well, perfect except for one color, but I'll save that for last.

Since I seem to gravitate toward dark colors 99% of the time, I thought I'd try Rescue Beauty Lounge's sheers and light colors. I mean, if I'm gonna do it, it might as well be with Rescue, right? (<---- justification!)

This is Ani. I really like this color- pale, beigey shimmer. I had a lot of trouble with this one- there seemed to be unmixed chunks or blobs of pigment or dried polish in this. I had to re-do this twice to be able to take pictures. It came out really chunky. I think I got a bad bottle.

Clear Pink. I think this is probably meant to be a one-coat polish, but I hate seeing my nails through my polish. This is three coats of a lovely light natural pink.

Medium White. This is more of a creamy butter color. Not quite yellow, but not quite white. It applies very smoothly and stays semi-sheer until three coats (pictured). I think this would make great natural looking tips for a french manicure.

Om. I love this one. There's just something about it that makes me feel calm. It looks boring, and I'm pretty sure it is boring, but for some reason I'm drawn to it. What is it about this color? I don't know. I just like it. Is it like Apple Jacks?

Opaque Nude. This is really cool. It reminds me of coffee with way too much cream. It's opaque and smooth and really unique looking.

Opaque Pink. I think that's the name. It's a different shade of pink than Clear Pink and it's more opaque. It's almost skin-colored. Very pretty and natural.

Underwear. The most perfect one-coat holy-crap-that's-white bright white polish ever.

Purple Haze. This picture makes it look slightly more blue, but I assure you it's purple. It's a nice deep lilac shade that's darker than OPI Do You Lilac It. I don't own another polish like this.

Chinoise. How do you pronounce this? I have no idea. This red is bright, flashy and smooth as glass. This applies like a dream- I almost couldn't believe how perfect it was.

And, not for the faint of heart, here's what could possibly be the most unflattering shade of nail polish ever created:

Sheer Natural.

I'm not sure what's natural about this. The yellow tint in a creamy base makes it look like I have some sort of nail disease or fungus. Gross. I remember when we went to study the cadavers for biology, and their nails looked like this.

Okay, maybe I'm being a little harsh on poor Sheer Natural. I'm sure this is meant for someone with a different skintone (not sure what skintone that would be, though). I just don't see how a yellow-tinted polish could be flattering. If I'm wearing yellow, I want it to be YELLOW. Oh well. It was worth a try.

  3. Hey Laura, you're welcome! That color IS awful... It's a mystery.

Anyway, my NOTD setup is pretty simple- front porch. LOL I can't get very good pictures with my crappy indoor lighting, so I wait until the sun is out and take pictures on the porch. Simple, but effective!

    Sanna, thanks LOL ;-)

  4. Lovely swatches! I've been wanting Ani for a while now. I think Chinoise is pronounced shee-NWAHZ -- I think it's going to be my Chinese New Year polish next year. :)

  5. Shryh, that sounds about right! I can't seem to wrap my brain around that word, lol. Isn't it French for "Chinese"? I should have taken French in high school. :D

  8. OMG.
I just finished a pedi with Killa Red and my toes have never had it so good. ONE coat, just one - and I have a perfect coverage. It's unbelievable.

  10. Sorry, I'm annoying today.

I hope you have OPI Kremlin. Is it close to Om? I think Om has more pink and a bit warmer, right?

/arranging another swap - Clarins 230 for Om. Still in doubt.../

  11. Hey masa_inn, not annoying at all!

You're right- Om is definitely pinker and warmer.

Side by side, Om and Kreme de la Kremlin could be cousins, but probably not twins.

KdlK is darker and slightly browner, sort of a "dusty rose" color. Om is warmer and pinker and brighter in terms of color- more of a "natural" look.

    Hope this helps! :D

  12. Hi Scrangie - just stumbled on your blog and I love it!

I live in Vancouver and am coming to New York City this summer and was looking for info on Ji Baek.

Have you seen the article in the May Vogue on the new French manicure?

    They mention the Medium White.

I want to get a manicure at Rescue Lounge and have the new French.

What do you think? Would love to see it on you.

  13. Hey, anonymous! Welcome! I'm so happy you like my blog :D

No, I haven't seen the article, but now that you've brought it to my attention I'm going to look it up! Thanks!

I really trust Rescue Beauty Lounge's taste, so if they do a French, I bet it will look great. I'm going to look into it, and once I find it I can do a post about it! :D

  14. scrangie, i love your blog. thanks for posting all these amazing pictures.
i was wondering if you've also tried RBL's "sheer pink" as well as the "clear pink"....i'm trying to compare them and choose based on the RBL website and am a little confused...they look so similar.
    thanks,
    naz

  15. Hey Naz! I have not tried Sheer Pink, but it seems to lean a little more on the beige side rather than the pink side. I'm not 100% sure what it look like on the nail, so if or when I try that one I'll be sure to post pictures :D

  16. I just found your blog from another forum, and I'm hooked!! Thanks so much for the beautiful pics - your lighting is perfect and really shows the colour very well :) You've given me so many lemmings already!!

One question re Rescue Beauty Lounge Om: is there an equivalent/dupe colour from Opi or China Glaze?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Kay! Thank you :D I can't think of a direct dupe for Om, but it's a little similar to OPI Kreme De La Kremlin... Not exact, though :(

  18. This is a VERY late response, but as to the correct pronunciation of Chinoise, Shryh is correct. It is pronounced shee-NWAHZ

It would be pronounced "Sheen-Wah" only if it were spelled Chinois. The "s" is not silent when the "e" is present.

    Hear the pronunciation here: http://forvo.com/word/chinoise/
