Cover Girl Lash Blast Review

I have been looking for a new mascara ever since they changed the formula of my beloved L'Oreal Volume Shocking. I have since tried a dozen different kinds of drugstore and high end mascaras, and none of them lived up to the glory that Volume Shocking provided to my lashes.

I love Volume Shocking. It's everything I ever wanted in a mascara. You get killer length, insane volume, super black color, everything. It's that fake eyelash look, and I loved it.

After extensive testing and inevitable disappointment, I think I may have found a suitable replacement.

Cover Girl Lash Blast.

When I saw the gigantic orange tube on the shelf at Target, I knew I had to try it. I mean, this thing is huge, it has to make your lashes huge, right? Marketing at its very finest.

My thoughts on Lash Blast:
It gives decent volume and length without clumping, the color is nice and black, the formula is smooth and not too dry, and it doesn't seem to flake after an hour.

I really like this mascara. Sure, it's not the same as the magnificent, glorious Volume Shocking, but it will do. There are, however, a few things I don't like about it.

The brush is gigantic, which makes applying the product difficult. The bristles are also pretty scratchy, it irritates my eyes a little and when you accidentally scratch your eye with it it HURTS! It takes a while to build volume, which is understandable but time-consuming. And the tube is HUGE. I mean, ridiculously huge. If someone saw it in your purse I'm sure it would be mistaken for an, uh, adult toy. In fact, I think it could double as an adult toy. How about that? Multi-tasking mascara! Hear me, Cover Girl? I have your next absurd marketing tactic!!!

Anyway, I think I would buy this again. It's not perfect, but it's definitely the best of all the drugstore mascaras I tried. If only they would bring back the old Volume Shocking. *sigh*

  1. I loved Lash Blast but it turns into a clogfest of crap after a bit of crying (and I'm a huge crybaby lol).

Have you tried Loreal Voluminous? I'm a mascara junkie and this is my absolute HG....even better than Diorshow IMO.

  2. Hmm, (luckily) haven't had the crying test yet, thanks for letting me know!

I used to use Voluminous religiously, but lately it hasn't seemed like enough volume. I love how smooth and silky it is, though! :)
