Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Halloween 2011 Nail Collection

I look forward to Halloween cosmetics displays every year. I start hunting for them the minute the weather starts cooling down and usually the Fantasy Makers display is the first one out on the shelves. This year they've done a different set of colors than they have in previous years.

Creepy Pumpkin. My favorite of the bunch! I love the name, I love the color, I love the bottle... I may need a backup of this. It's a sheer orange jelly with tiny iridescent orange glass fleck glitter. Not traditional rough chunky glitter, but smooth, shiny glass fleck particles. Looks amazing on the nail. Lots of sparkle and depth because of the shiny shimmer in the jelly base.

Black Magic. This is a different version than the previous versions of Black Magic. If my eyes do not deceive me, this is simply a renamed, rebottled version of Wet n Wild Blackmail. It's a black creme base with teeny tiny multicolored microglitter. Nice and smooth, no roughness or chunkiness.

Purple Potion. Another color we've seen before; this seems like a renamed version of Wet n Wild Night Prowl. This is a black base with purple glitter. There may be a touch less glitter in Purple Potion than in Night Prowl, or just a formula inconsistency.

I didn't buy the glow in the dark polish this year because I still have two or three bottles of Night Glow from previous Halloweens. I don't go through that stuff very quickly, but it's fun to keep around. Out of all the glow in the dark polishes I've tried, I think Fantasy Makers has the brightest. It's really great, especially with the cute tombstone bottle, and it's usually under $2. It does add a sheer milky green tint to whatever polish you layer it over, so be aware of that. But it glows brightly and lasts a long time!

Good formula, good dry time, decent brushes. Pretty much the same as all the other Fantasy Makers I've used, so nothing new to report there.

I kinda wish they had done more new colors for Halloween this year, but I'm pretty happy with them otherwise. I already have Blackmail and Night Prowl (and they are two of my favorite black-based colors) so I was hoping for some different stringy glitter or even a re-release of the previous colors. But, they're good quality polishes in cute bottles, so I'm pretty content.

I got mine at Meijer, but these displays are starting to show up everywhere else as of last week. The display also has a variety of glitter products and lipsticks which are worth a look if you're into crazy holo glitter!

  7. yup, you hit it right on the nose - this version of black magic is the exact same as blackmail - I just did a side by side comp on my site and they're impossible to tell apart.

  8. How similar is Creepy Pumpkin to Zoya's Tanzy? I love bright oranges and I love glitter but I don't want two colors that are super similar :)

  9. Does anybody know what other retailers sell this line? I'm like completely in love with all of them but I don't live by a Meijers at all. I've kept an eye out at Walgreens, but no dice!

  11. @Anblick, I've seen them at ULTA and they just started showing up at the Walgreens in my area.

  12. All the ones labeled Black Magic at my Ulta were plain black cremes, but it did find the glitter version at Meijer. I also saw a different display at CVS that had Black Pearl (black creme) and Vamp Red (very dark burgundy creme) along with the glow in the dark (and I think the Night Prowl dupe).

  16. I found Creepy Pumpkin to be a fussy polish to work with. I'm glad to see it done right with your post. I wasn't happy with the way my polish worked after 3 different attempts.

  20. The Orange is incredible! I agree about a renamed BlackMail, and I think Purple Potion is a dupe for Mummy, May I? So... yeah. lol Great swatches!
