Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Designer Collection for Fall 2011

Here's the info on Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure nail color collection for fall.

THINK: Coveted fall polishes, fresh off the runway.

WHAT THEY ARE: Your complete nail color wardrobe for fall.

Nail leader Sally Hansen took New York Fashion Week by storm joining forces with Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung, Rachel Roy, J. Mendel and Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia to create exclusive nail colors to complement each of their runway collections, while designer Naeem Khan used a classic Sally Hansen polish.

With a vast array of shades, textures and finishes, Sally Hansen’s limited edition fall collections and a timeless favorite offer all the fashion-forward nail looks you’ll crave this season. The designers looked to two of Sally Hansen’s top nail technologies, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure and Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.

Complete Salon Manicure is an all-in-one formula that combines the components of a professional salon manicure—base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, rich color and top coat in a single multi-tasking polish. Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips are an easy and affordable at-home nail technology that puts bold color, high- shine, and intricate design at your fingertips—just peel, apply, file, and go.

Tracy Reese joined forces with Sally Hansen for the eleventh consecutive season to create six bold shades and rich metallics that mirror the designer’s opulent fall aesthetic. On the runway, models wore Complete Salon Manicure in Shiny Penny, a rich bronze, and Oxide, a gunmetal grey.

Prabal Gurung’s five-color Complete Salon Manicure collection features eye-catching brights and creamy pale hues with an edge that reflect the designer’s fall aesthetic—Victorian romance with a dark undercurrent. On Prabal Gurung’s fall runway, models sported Crinoline, the palest of pink, topped with flecks of black for an Asian inspired design.

Rachel Roy enlisted Sally Hansen to create a rich neutral nail that suits all skin tones for her eclectic, 70s-inspired fall collection. The result? Terracotta, a creamy toffee Complete Salon Manicure shade— the perfect accent to Roy’s pattern-heavy, layered looks.

Echoing J. Mendel’s signature sophistication, Sally Hansen created Mousseline, a custom sheer cream Complete Salon Manicure polish to complement the luxe furs and structured pieces J. Mendel sent down the runway.

The look at Naeem Khan was pure opulence with beading, ostrich feathers, embroidery and plenty of sparkle. The designer turned to classic Complete Salon Manicure shade, Pat on the Black—a rich glossy aubergine in keeping with the luxe eveningwear collection.

Fun and feminine Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet teamed up with Sally Hansen for two custom nail looks to accompany designer Stacey Bendet’s party-ready fall separates. Bendet used Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in Autumn Violet, a regal purple and Liquid Metal, a glam grey-black.

Dorien Grey.

Green Tea.

Himalayan Blue.

Madame X.

Shiny Penny.

All of these swatches are three coats, with topcoat, no basecoat. Formula was decent on most, if a bit on the runny side. The only one that gave me trouble was Bewitched, which was incredibly thick and hard to spread evenly. These have a wide, stiff brush that can be a bit tricky to use. I needed to use a very light touch with the brush to prevent bald spots at the tips of my nails.

My thoughts? I thought they looked pretty bland in the bottles, but once I had them on my nails I really liked them. All of the colors are very flattering, but not necessarily unique. My picks are Oxide, Dorien Grey (if only for the name), Bewitched, Green Tea and Crinoline.

These will be available at drugstores starting in October.

(These were sent to me for review.)

  1. i actually love all of these colors. cant wait until they come out. I have one of these sally hansen nail polishes and I love the way they apply.

  2. Definitely investing in shiny penny and terracotta, gorgeous fall colours!

  3. I love Oscar Wilde, so I definitely need Dorien Grey! Oxide looks kinda cool too, but the rest are all passable. Bewitched looks a lot like China Glaze VIII...

  4. I love almost all the colors but the brown!
    a really great collection!!

  5. Sally Hansen's fall collection looks really good. So many trendy colors. Loving Ballet Rouges, Courtesan, and Crinoline.

  6. I like them all but Terracotta stands out. Its so different. :)

  7. Bewitch will hopefully finding it's pretty way into my collection. I don't really think the others stand out. This was the only one to grab my eye. Any I'm not really a big fan of the smokey nail looks like come with fall

  8. Unfortunately, until they change the brushes, I will not be buying these ... unless the color is extra ordinary, which it is not.

  9. Love Green tea!
    x elize / purrrpolish

  10. Just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your blog! I often vistit and look at your fantastic pictures of nail polish (it's for sure your "fault" that my wishlist keeps on growing :-))! Thanks for your effort with this blog!

  11. I might succumb to Green Tea.

Although I have to admit that I am a little disappointed that there are no topcoat/layering type of polishes.

Was Hidden Treasure a complete fluke?

I don't write this for you, Scrangie, but perhaps for the research folks who follow blogs and see what people want.

I think CND is onto something.

More Hidden Treasure type of polishes!!

  12. I've got Gray By Gray from this line and love it -- I'm even down with that big weird flat brush (though I wish it were scaled down by about 20-25%). Most of these look like recycled / slightly updated colors from seasons past or other brands, but Terracotta is...strangely compelling. Even though I know it'd probably look completely grody on my skin, I kind of want it anyway.

  13. Oh there all so gorgeous! I'm loving Himalayan Blue, Green Tea, Dorien Grey and Ballet Rouges! ^_^

  14. Must have them all. I really like Sally Hansen Salon polish. Thanks for letting us know all the polishes.

  15. I want Dorien Grey strictly for the name (greys look horrendous on me) I really want Oxide, I hope these aren't hard to find!

  16. I LOVE Shiny Penny and Oxide! I hope I can get these two! I will be stalking my local CVS weekly! Also, do you think that Shiny Penny could be very similar to Running with Wolves (Sparitual)??

  17. Green Tea looks very close to OPI Mermaid's Tears, or possible Essie Absolutely Shore. Do you have pics of those for comparison, by any chance...?
