Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size Set of Five in Electric Swatches and Review

The Electric set is the brightly-colored non-neutral counterpart to the beautiful-yet-office-appropriate Naked set of 24/7 Pencils just released for Holiday 2011. Being brightly colored doesn't make them any less versatile than the Naked neutral shades. These are just as wearable either for a little flash of color or for a much bolder look.

The set comes in a try just like the Naked version does, except this one is all 80s electric rainbow colored.

The shades included are Perversion, Ransom, Woodstock, Radium and Junkie.

If you like, you can enlarge these for a closer look at the pencil colors.

Swatched over bare skin in sunlight, with flash and indoor ambient light: Perversion, Ransom, Woodstock, Radium, Junkie.

Same lovely, creamy, long-wearing, waterproof formula as the regular Urban Decay 24/7 pencils, but like the Naked set, they're smaller. Just about three quarter size. You get a good amount of pencil; they're not as small as the 24/7 Jackpot pencils and they should last you a while even with daily use. A full size Urban Decay 24/7 pencil is 5.5" (bottom of base to end of cap) and contains 1.26/0.04oz; these travel sizes are 4.5" (bottom of base to end of cap) and 0.8g/0.03oz.

This set is much more my style. First off, Perversion. Holy cow. I can't believe how impossibly black it is. It may just be the blackest black eyeliner I've ever used. Woodstock is the pencil I've been waiting for- hot pink with sparkles- and now I need to have one in full size because I can see myself finishing this in no time. Junkie is like the eyeliner version of Zoya's Charla nail polish; teal and blue with gold and green sparkles. Radium is nice, but on the plain side. The only one I'm iffy about is Ransom (purple with blue flash) because it's sheer. I really layered that one on in the swatch pictures. It could use a little more pigment, in my opinion.

The one thing I don't like about these sets is the tray. I like how the tray looks- the thing is beautiful. It's just that the pencils really get stuck in there. If you accidentally press them in too hard, it's almost impossible to get them back out easily. I had to take a knife and pry a few of them out because they had gotten wedged in too far! If the pencil chambers/troughs were just a millimeter or two less shallow, they'd be perfect. That's my one and only complaint. Pencils getting stuck. Otherwise, the quality of the pencils are great and exactly what I've come to expect from Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil line.

So... Urban Decay... How about full size versions of Woodstock and Perversion? Pretty please? They're so nice! I don't want to run out!

The Limited Edition Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size Set of Five in Electric is $32 and available now at Sephora and Urban Decay.

  2. Junkie looks STUNNING! Whoa! And, yes, I also love Perversion - such a dark black.

Hehe, funny how you had to resort to using a knife to get the pencils out!

  8. Oh my goodness, Junkie is just stunning! I thought I wanted the Naked set, but forget about them, I want these! I will be dreaming about that eyeliner, until I own it. And then I'll probably never wear it, but gaze lovingly at it a lot.

  12. Wasn't Perversion full size in the anniversary set of eyeliners? I could have sworn... I use Stila's Kajal pencil in Onyx for black. It's the blackest black I've ever used, but it's a khol so it spreads like mad. I looovvvveeeeeee Junkie, it's gorgeous. I'd buy the set just for that!

  14. I was just wishing that the Naked set had Perversion instead of Zero. This might be what takes my UD virginity!

  15. I was really excited about Junkie until I saw it swatched on Temptalia a month or so ago. Don't get me wrong, it's a great color and i'm an absolute sucker for teal but it's a shade that's already been released by two other brands so your comparison to Zoya's Charla is quite apt. MAC released it in the Spring of '10 as Undercurrent, a LE pearl glide liner, and Revlon released it a few months ago as Emerald, a part of their newish Grow Luscious product line. I had kind of suspected that a lot of the formula and shade development for these creamy, smudge resistant pencil liners had been outsourced by a third party that does the same business for other brands, and Junkie kind of cinched it for me.

  16. awesome swatches! thank you, i actually got them before i saw this review. but im really glad i got them! they are amazing! and to the issue of pencils getting stuck to the box ive found the answer! haha it was my problem 5 minutes earlier but i found out you dont need to pry them with a knife, just press on one end (the bottom preferably) and the top part lifts out of the box, kind of like how a see saw moves. Hope that helps!

  17. Ok I went to Ulta to take a peek at these cause they are gorgeous. I have never bought a 24/7 pencil but I wanted to try before I buy. I have those annoying allergy eyes where everything drives me crazy. I tried zero and it looks good but it doesn't stick that well in my lower waterline. It's about half gone. Doesn't bother my eyes really however. I just wish it had a little more staying power. Any suggestions anyone?

  18. Great review! I love both sets too:) Funny, I had the exact same problem getting the pencils out of the tray thing- OMG I chipped at least two nails in the process LOL. And the shadow pencils are even worse because they are thicker!
