New-ish Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wears

I'm on a Sally Hansen kick lately. Still hunting for old glitters... but some of the new stuff hasn't been bad! I really like the new brush. I've seen a lot of people say they hate it, but it seriously works for me. I love wide brushes. I used to hate them, too! Now I need them.

Going Green. Sweeeeeeeeeet! A really unique green! From the drugstore! Easily obtained and usually on sale! This is a lighter shade of green but luckily it's not mint (which I like to look at but it looks horrible on me, lobster hands, you know.). I'd call it grass green perhaps, medium, with soft subtle silvery shimmer. The only downside is it stains like a mofo. Seriously. I had green nails for a week. Totally worth it though.

In The Spotlight over Wet Cement. In The Spotlight is a hologram stringy/bar glitter topcoat. Not much on its own, but looks great over this grey. I'm one of the rare people who actually loves stringy glitter... It looks like a party on your nails! They're not common, which is sad. I guess I could always make my own, but... yeah. This one is not really super unique and it can be a little tricky to get the placement right but I still love it.

Pacific Blue. I am sad. I can not get this color to come out right in pictures. It always turns into this bright neon looking blue. It's not neon blue. It's a soft blue creme, perhaps cornflower blue? A little muted, very unique. Totally gorgeous. And I just noticed that it looks like there are runes carved into the side of my bottle... Huh?! I didn't notice that before.

Purple Pizazz. It was hard for me to pick a favorite from these, but this has to be it. It was love at first sight. It's a jelly purple with large flecks of iridescent gold-red shimmer. It's like Claire's Magic or Milani Totally Cool but the shimmer is bigger. The purple shade is so vibrant and in-your-face that it just makes me want to wear nothing but this polish for weeks on end. I love looking down at my nails and seeing exactly the color I've been wanting from a purple polish! It is sheer though, this is three coats. It looks okay with two coats but I always like my polish on the more opaque side.

Wet Cement. Nice alone too! Very flattering not too blue light grey creme. Not too much to say about it other than I really like it.

I hope Sally Hansen keeps doing stuff like this, but I also hope they don't keep raising their already ridiculous prices. At least this line is inexpensive. Those Complete Salon whatever ones are almost $8! For drugstore polish! Are they trying to become a salon brand or just convince people that what's in the $8 Sally Hansen bottle is somehow higher quality than what's in the $4 Sally Hansen bottle? I don't get it.

So... on a different note... I have a question for you guys. Are there any new polish collections that you're dying to see swatches of? Lately I'd rather post more random stuff than new collections all the time, but I have lots of the new spring/summer stuff swatched already. Like... four or five BB Couture collections, two Jessica collections, the Nubar reds, Color Club neons, Nicole, OPI Shrek and Soft Shades, Milani neons, Eyeko, Orly, Diamond... I feel like I need to just marathon post all the new collections to get them out of the way so I can go back to posting whatever random thing inspires me at the moment. Let me know what you would rather see first / what's most interesting.

  2. Wow, liked the purple one the most!
But oooh, stringy glitter.. I think it looks.. I don't know, messy..?
    Anyway, nice pics as always!

  3. Please post whatever you have! I'd also love to see the new FingerPaints, especially Art of Theft.

  7. love these colors!

you are so lucky to be able to go to a drugstore and pick these colors up.

i've had wet cement, purple pizzazz and pacific blue on my wishlist forever.. but i live in manila and the only sally hansen xtreme wear colors we have in stores here are freaking old and not exactly pretty..

  8. The green and purple are AMAZING! I'm going to have to stake out my walgreens this week.. :D

I would love to see the BB Couture and the Nubar red collections, if you feel like posting them :-)

  9. I would love to see your Shrek swatches. Some other swatches have me thinking they are not that fab. If you have the other new OPI summer colletion (something butterfly related) I would love to see them too. I don't care too much about new OPI soft shades. Sheer pink is sheer pink is sheer pink. Thanks so much for your blog. Your photos are more acurate than any of the promo pics. A great help in choosing new polishes.

  10. I love the Sally Hansen cheapo polishes, because they are good quality and fun colours.

I love your random posts, but if you do want to post collections, I would like to see (in order, most curious to least)
    OPI Shrek
    Nubar Reds
    Color Club neons
The rest are completely optional, and less "necessary". It is sweet of you to ask. I am curious about fall collections now...it always happens; once I start wearing brights and pastels, I want vampy...:)

  11. I would like to see the Shrek collection and any Orly. By the way, I really like your random posts, too. Thanks for all you do!

  12. I really like that green -- nice!

As for what I'd like to see, the new Nubars (metallic matte and 2010) caught my eye, and I'm seriously thinking of getting them. Would love to see those. Also Eyeko polishes.

  13. I like all your swatches/posts no matter if from a collection or random! I'd like to see the BB Couture and Nubar Reds.

  14. China Glaze's Vintage Vixen when available!!!!

  15. I have Pacific Blue and I adore it, such a beautiful blue! I keep looking for Wet Cement but I've been completely out of luck on that one.

  16. Hi!

Lovely! You always manage to create 300 zillion lemmings by looking at your pictures. They're awesome!

I'd love to see the BB couture collections, the Jessicas and the Orly, cause they're not so easy to find (swatches of, that is). Most people have already done the Shrek and soft shades collection.

I'm happy with whatever you post though!

Thanks a lot for these swatches :)

  17. I love all those colors. I've got to get them now. :~)

  18. I would love to see more of your collection. The polishes that don't already have 40 gajillion pics on nailgal. The kind of pics that we can swoon over. It doesn't matter if they are discontinued or HTF.

There are also so many polishes still on the market, that I have never seen a pic of yet. I agree with you, new collex are great but nothing beats random polishes from your vault!

Speaking of which, could you take a pic of your collection? I am oddly curious to take a gander :)

  19. Color Club, Orly and Diamond sound the most interesting to me. I bought Pacific Blue a week ago but haven't worn it yet. That green looks amazing but I'm on a no green buy...I went on a green spree a month ago and I have TONS of green polishes. I really want Wet Cement and Purple Pizazz. I think its a good idea to get all the collections out of the way because I really like your random posts. (Even more than the collections!)

  20. I'd like to see BB Couture and Nubar.

I'm really losing faith in Sally Hansen. I've had so many bad experiences with their polish lately, especially the Xtreme Wear line. It's all gloppy and hard to manage and ends up looking like garbage. I have so many of them that I am afriad to try. :(

I really like that green though... if I break down and get it I hope it applies ok. :s

  21. I really love wet cement but sadly have no idea where to fins these in the UK :(
As far as new collections go, we see them all over everywhere anyway, so I really like to see random swatches on your blog - it's refreshing.
However, I guess I would quite like to see new Orly's as I've not seem many on other blogs lately and Color Club neons I'm curious about too. Apart from that I'm not fussed. I really like the random posts!

  22. Oooo I would like to see the Milani Neons!

  23. Random is always good, I love your pics regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd love to see BB Couture swatches, especially the Regular Guys collection, because it really looks interesting, and I could only find swatches on a single blog only. We international polish lovers are really depending on your swatches, so thanks a lot for asking. It's so kind of you!

  25. Purple pizazz and Spotlight are my fav!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd like to see the Shrek collection. Mostly to see your take on Fiercely Fiona. Quite enjoying the random polishes presented too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Marathon posting? I love the thought.

Honestly, though, do whatever interests you .

    ReplyDelete
  28. The blue one is simply gorgeous and so are your nails! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you have the new BB Couture men's collection, I'm dying to see Coal Miner, Golf Pro, and Blue Collar :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Honestly, spring collections usually suck for me. All ugly cremes in boring pale colors. And that Shrek collection? Ew, thank goodness I don't have a gag reflex. No offense (well maybe a little) to those that dig it, but as soon as I saw those colors something died inside. They're so ugly!!

I really like that you've been doing more random stuff. That's what I really want, random stuff that isn't posted everywhere else and will entice me to buying nail polish I normally don't notice. :) Particularly drug store stuff. I usually walk around looking at it, but don't often give in and buy a bottle. So it's nice to see swatches of that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oooh. Totally off topic, but have you had any luck tracking down more old glitters? The ones on the NB lately have been phenomenal!

Going Green and Pacific Blue are freakin amazing too. I love Sally Hansen and hate her at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  32. wow - i love all of those - espec ially the holo.
i never see these in the uk though, which is sad.
can't wait to see your next lot , whichever you pick.

    ReplyDelete
  33. milani neons please! i haven't been able to find new pics of that collection

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like your random stuff!!! Keep it up!
If you want to throw in a "now" collection here and there, that's great. I'd love to see YOUR swatches of the Nubar Reds.
I never have liked OPI so if you never swatched it, I'd be ok with that.

The SH Salon brand is supposed to be base, color and top coat in one, so you save time and money with 2-3 coats of it in the long run (is the idea anyway) I love the new Salon Formula though and I used to hate SH polish.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would love to see the Shrek collection and flutter summer collection also!! I have already purchased two from the Shrek collection, but hesitantly because I didn't have your swatches to look at. Also, how do you think Maybelline Pie in the Sky compares to Pacific Blue? It looks a lot lighter but you said the pic isn't accurate. Awesome colors!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have several of those new SH's, but Pacific Blue is my fave! I have worn it many times this Spring!
I only recently discovered your blog, and I love it!. I love all of your swatches! I like drugstore swatches the most, though, because I am on a budget and cannot afford the higher end polishes most of the time. So, I would love to see the new Massini/Studio M line or the new Milani Liquid Metals. Also, there is a great new line out by Petites, and Pure Ice has added some hot new colors! However, I am always happy to see any of your posts!! Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anything you post is good for me, I'm never dissapointed coming to your blog so I say post what you feel like!

Ok I know that doesn't help much so I guess I would prefer a mix of collections and random stuff. Too many new collections at once create way too many "gotta have that too" and I end up spending tons on more NP!

Not like I'm complaining or anything ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Shrek collection would be nice, but I think you should do what makes you happy. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  39. Because it all sounds so incredible, can you alternate collections/random/collections/random? I LOVE your random stuff too much for words, but it's also great to see collections on your nails (especially the Eyeko!)

    ReplyDelete
  40. It'll be awhile, but super excited for China Glaze's Vintage Vixen!

    ReplyDelete
  41. yes i agree on the brush at first it seemed cumbersome and then viola it just clicked i really think they need to wided the insta-dry bottles casue it always gets goopy. nice pics i really like the green, purple, and blue

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm all about the Diamond Cosmetics and BB Couture right now. I love Diamond for the price and think BBC has done some really interesting things recently.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I enjoy your random posts!

  44. Really digging Wet Cement! I'm about to head into Winter, so really loving those subdued shades.

I'd absolutely love to see the Color Club Poptastic collection. Not necessarily the colours that are in the packaged set (Poptatic, Twigie, Pucci-liscious, Chelsea Girl etc), but the colours that aren't packaged into it like MODern Pink, Factory Girl, Edie, Youthquake and Age of Aquarius. I haven't really seen any of them on blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  45. That purple Pizazz is eye-popping beautiful. and the Wet Cement, I'd wear those forever, (not together, though :)
What kind of camera are you using for your pics? If it is a 35mm (D)SLR, a polarizing filter might bring out the true color. Maybe a light-diffuser, (like the kind used to 'mute' flashes. If it is a phone-camera, I'm not sure if you can dial down the aperture some or not. (autofocus and auto-program f-stop and shutter speeds are for novices, and vacationers who don't want lasting memories).

  46. Hi Scrangie! Newbie here.... I love the bar glitter!!! And wet cement is probably the best combo I've seen with SH's spotlight so far. Sephora by OPI is coming out with a bar glitter soon, which I got excited about (again) after seeing your post!

I'd love to see swatches of more drugstore brand polishes--- I like the idea of instant gratification after seeing something I like =)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'd love to see the Jessica collection, which you mentioned on your twitter may have a dupe for Creme de Menthe? I'd love to see if it is! I really hope that I didn't imagine you saying that...

    ReplyDelete
  48. purple pizazz and pacific blue are absolutely STUNNING!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'd love to see your Color Club Neon swatches. I really like the few I've picked up from that collection. Your swatches are always so awesome you'll probably convince me to pick up a few more :P And I love that string glitter, it makes me think of this random claire's polish I had when I was little...

    ReplyDelete
  50. OPI Shrek!!! So excited for that one:)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like your random posts better than the collections. A while ago you wrote about old polishes from 1997 that you wanted to post but were reluctant about because they're no longer available... I'd like to see those polishes. To me thats more interesting than new collections that everyone's posting aout...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would love to see the Collections swatches and prefer to see anything OPI and the Nubar reds especially...but all collections are good

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would love to see the Shrek collection, but any post you do is great!! And I hope I can find the Wet Cement from Sally Hansen; I have been frantically searching for creme, non-shiny plain old gray nail polish. Seems like it doesn't exist in Canada! Needless to say it's been a total fail!! :( (I like the stringy glitter, too BTW. Looks totally cool!!)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Nubar 2010!! Pretty please...

    ReplyDelete
  55. It isn't a collection really, but I was wondering if you have Sinful Colors's "Pearl Harbor"? If so, could you swatch that over black? I'm considering getting it but they don't let you test it out and I want to make sure it looks good.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'd like to see the BB Coutures, they don't show up on a lot of blogs. I say post what you like! You have great taste in nail polish.

    ReplyDelete
  57. SH In The Spotlight over Wet Cement looks great! I love that holo strip glitter polish. In fact, I bought two of them just so I wouldn't run out for a long time! Thanks for all the great ideas! -JenB

  58. I can't wait to see the Shrek Collection!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I've been on a Sally Hansen kick lately too! I've been finding some decent 2 packs at the Dollar Tree of their different polish lines and at $1 for 2 bottles if they don't look great-no big loss:) I'd like to see the Shrek collection definitely, but I think the random stuff is cool too!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love pacific blue, and I totally get what you mean about the camera changing it!

I'd like to see dupes and comparisons to the Shrek collection. I feel like there are enough dupes out there that I need not buy this collection.

    ReplyDelete
  61. another vote for the shrek collection! :) and i also like seeing your random swatch posts. it reminds me of polishes i have but may have forgotten about or just haven't used in ages!

thanks for your all your hard work with your posts, i love reading your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I like your random stuff best. <3 If I ever start a blog it is going to be all swatches of the most random stuff from my collection.

Pacific Blue is total hotness, also. I have contemplated a backup of it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ahh! I was hoping you'd do some more of these. I actually have Going Green, and Pacific Blue. I too, noticed the staining with the green.

I did have a question for you. Did you notice that Pacific Blue smells horrible? I'm wondering if it's just my bottle, or the whole set?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I absolutely LOVE that you're posting more drugstore finds on your blog. It's nice to have a variety of polish price points to drool over. Keep 'em coming!

    ReplyDelete
  65. LOVE pacific blue. I was finally able to find it today after looking for two months!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love In the Spotlight and Wet Cement. They're among the (very) few Xtreme Wear I don't have yet. I have about 30 swatched at http://sassy-beauty.blogspot.com/2010/05/even-more-xtreme-wear-swatches.html

    ReplyDelete
  67. Post all the already swatched collections you have, I wanna see your photos of them! Also, I love your random inspired posts. I would love to see random lesser known collections from you too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. When you reviewed the Redi and Diamond topcoats you said you'd save your favorites for later. It'd be really great if you could do a review of a bunch of topcoats. I use Seche, but it's getting to be too much money. I'm 14 and my parents are getting tired of spending so much money on nail polish so I need a cheaper topcoat that dries just as quickly and doesn't get thick halfway through. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I want to see whatever is easiest and/or most enjoyable for you. Whether it be 1 item or 20, I love looking at them all and hearing your expert opinion on their formula and how many coats used.
If pressed to choose something, my vote would be for the cheaper drugstore stuff, like maybe Sinful Colors, Pure Ice, SH Xtreme Wear, etc. BUT, only if that's something YOU would like to post. As whiney as we, your readers, may be, I think the majority would agree that we want you to do what makes you happy :-)

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love your blog! Thank you for taking the time to do these great swatches and write these reviews!

    ReplyDelete
  71. That purple REALLY reminds me of Sinful Colors's "Daddy's Girl"--I thought so when I saw it in the store and I think so even more now that I see the swatch. How does it compare? If it's similar I would want to pick it up, I've had problems with the SC formula but I've been loving Sally Hansen's new polishes.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Purchased three of these today thanks to your swatches and they did not disappoint! Purple Pizzazz is awesome in all it's glitteriness. It's darker, and more blue toned in some lighting, and you can really see the specks of golden, red glitter in the sunlight. Looovvee it!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oooh - I might have to wear the spotlight and wet cement one for my birthday next month :D
