OPI Summer Flutter Collection Summer 2010

This is one of those mini-collections OPI does right around summertime... Like last year's Sunbelievable or Night Brights.

I actually thought this was going to be just like Sunbelievable when I saw the promo pics, but I was totally wrong.

Oh, it's a bummer, but I couldn't get any sunlight pics of these. Because... there was no sun. But I think they look pretty good indoors!

Catch Me In Your Net. Super sparkly glittery blue with gold glitter and subtle green duochrome. It's so sparkly my camera couldn't focus on it! Kinda sweet. You may be thinking, "Why, that looks like Zoya Charla!" I would have to say to you... You're right. It does. It's practically dead-on identical. Look:

Index and ring fingers: OPI Catch Me In Your Net
Middle and Pinkie: Zoya Charla

The reason I'm not calling it 100% identical is visible in that comparison. Charla is sparklier. It's more opaque, too. Those are both three coats and you can see visible nail line on the OPI but not on the Zoya. It also seems that the sparkle/glitter particles in Charla are larger. But, color-wise, they're the same. Only minute differences.

Flit a Bit. Standard orange creme. Not too red, not too yellow. I love it , but I can't say it's unique. Why is this the only creme in the collection? This might have been cool with some glitter, too. Maybe that's why they decided to make Nicole Traffic Cone. Not many glittery oranges in existence!

Flower to Flower. Under fluorescent lighting, the shimmer in this looked gold to me. In daylight I can clearly see that the shimmer is silver. That's... weird. Anyway. This is a bright cool bubblegum pink with fine silver shimmer. Very pretty, and it adds a surprising pop of color on my cool skintone.

Wing It! This as a very unusual color. It's very hard to describe. It's a deep reddish pink at some angles and it's weird murky pink-orange at others... So weird murky orange-pink jelly totally packed with blue-violet iridescent glass fleck shimmer. Or glitter. Glittery shimmer. Gorgeous. I wish OPI would do more of these duochrome-glass fleck- glitter type polishes cause I think they're AMAZING! Really eye-catching, even in low light.

The formula was great. Much better than the Shrek ones and more like the OPI formula I'm used to. Not thick, not thin, not goopy, not runny. I did three coats of all, but only the two glitters needed the third. Dry time was good. Dries to a shiny finish without topcoat. I don't know why I mention that in my review, cause you should be using topcoat anyway. But not all polish does dry shiny without topcoat, so... it's relevant, right?

Overall, I think this is a cute little collection. I'm happy with it. It has two glitters and orange! I want OPI to do more of these glass fleck style of glitters. They look awesome. Do a purple one!

  3. I love when OPI does glass flecks! These colors really do look amazing! Do you know if these are out already? If they are, I'm really behind.

BTW: Did you manage to get a hold of the new Wet n Wild Crazes? If not, let me know. I think my Meijer still has a few of them!

  4. Thanks for the Zoya comparison on the blue . . . I prefer Zoya polishes in general so all things being nearly equal, I would tip that way!!

  8. Thanks for the Zoya comparison -- now I don't have to find a retailer that actually HAS the OPIs (since they can't be ordered anymore...) Yay!

  12. Those are so pretty! I love that Charla dupe and that pink is the perfect bubblegum pink (and with that sparkle, it's so cute!).

  13. I definitely need CMiyN and Wing It -- I love the blue sparkle in Wing It especially. I think I will pass on the orange and the pink.

  14. Do you think you could possibly do a dupe comparison for Flit A Bit? I'd love to see how it compares to other orange cremes. Thanks for the consideration :)

I didn't purchase Charla, which I'm happy about now because I prefer OPI's brush, so I'll just buy Catch Me In Your Net instead.

  15. I really like this collection even though I'm not a warm colour type of person. Flit a Bit is a nice orange creme, I've been looking for some good orange colours since I don't have any yet. I already ordered Charla via the polish exchange so Catch Me in Your Net is pointless. And the two glass fleck pinks are interesting, especially Wing It.

  21. This is totally off topic Scrangie but do you have a method and or products that can repair a cracked nail? It's maybe an 1/8 the of an inch in on my left ring finger. I need a recommendation form you before I hit Sally.

  22. that's catch me in your net added to my wish list! i don't have the zoya so I will need this one. I also really like the look of flower to flower. Why does my wish list get longer faster than i can buy all these lovely polishes!

  23. Do you know when this collection will be in stores?

  24. That blue glitter is total sparkly goodness! I really wanted Zoya Charla, but I'd rather have the OPI version since their formula wears longer on me. (I find that with Zoya, you have to use the Zoya topcoat in order for it to last longer than 3 days, but with all other nail-polish brands, I can get manicures to last for over a week.)

And it's too bad that the nail etailers aren't going to carry OPI anymore. I got most of mine through those avenues.

  27. I love Wing It! I'll have to get that. I like the blue too, but I probably get Charla instead.
