Comparison: Nubar 2010 Versus Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure

Index: One coat of Nubar 2010
Middle: One Coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure
Ring: Two coats of Nubar 2010
Pinkie: Two coats of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure
(All over one coat of Wet n Wild Black, no topcoat, no basecoat.)

Both of these are red/orange/gold/green duochrome flakies a la Nfu Oh suspended in a clear base.

As you can see, they're quite similar. They're not 100% the same, though. The flakes in Nubar 2010 are smaller and less densely packed and don't show as much green duochrome compared to Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.

Here's a gigantor pic of the bottles to further illustrate the differences:

Sally on the left, Nubar on the right.

I think the Nubar looks much prettier in the bottle. The Sally shows more duochrome effect in the bottle, but the Nubar looks like magic. It's swirly and sparkly and flickering... I could just stare at it forever. You can see the difference in flake size this way as well. Nubar's are more irregular, some are bigger, some are smaller but overall they're smaller than Sally Hansen's flakes.

Formula is similar. Dry time is similar. Overall effect over black is similar. Price is similar. Unless you're like me, you probably don't need both. They're not 100% identical, but obviously they're on the same wavelength.

  1. I'm glad I dropped the money on the Nubar. Better bottle, looks better and not as annoying as Sally Hansen. Stop raising your facken prices!

  2. Does the Nubar nailpolish has a name other than 2010? do you know a website that sells it and is willing to ship worldwide?
    Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the comparison pics. I have a ton of Nfu-Oh flakies, so I won't be looking for either of these, unless of course I walk into my drug store and hear the siren call of the Sally Hansen :).

  6. I'm so happy you did this post! I haven't stumbled upon Hidden Treasure yet, and this is one of the few flakie/sparkle polishes on my wishlist (I'm a cream girl), so it's nice to know I have another option that I can order online. :)

  9. I'm curious how these two compare to Nfu Oh's #38. I have Hidden Treasure and am pretty happy with it. Got it at Walmart last week.

  10. I'm so glad you did this! I happened upon the Sally's one in Wal-Mart, and I figured it would be cheaper than Nfu-Oh. I'm glad I don't need to get both!

  13. Thank you for doing this comparison. I was wondering before if there was any difference. Nubar is amazing, but it's harder for me to get my hands on since I'm in Canada.

  14. I got Hidden Treasure on Ebay because SH isn't avaliable in my country (kind of expensive but totally worth it). It's my first flakie and I love it!! I guess I don't need Nubar 2010 as they are so similar but I'm going to buy it anyaway. I think I'm starting to develop a flake addiction!!

  16. You should consider doing Youtube videos! It will bring more people to your blog and on the days you don't feel like taking photos you can just film the bottles. It would also allow you to talk about the colors in complete detail as much as you want.

  17. Thanks for this. I can't find Hidden Treasure anywhere and it's pissing me off, so I'll be getting the Nubar.

  18. Where can you find Nubar in the US? Their web page is "under construction" for US locations. I have to have this polish, but $12 for shipping? Um, no.

  25. I saw Hidden Treasure yesterday and think it is pretty. I didn't know that it was that hard to find until I went home and search on MUA. I surprised that I was that lucky to snatch the last bottle.
