Second try with The Falsies (featuring Overall Beauty's Gabrielle Faust Collection)

This is my second try using The Falsies. Not as bad as the first, but still chunky and skinny like insect legs! And I know I have speckles of mascara on my eyelid. I totally didn't notice until I looked at the pictures. How embarrassing.

This is also my first time using Minerals by Overall Beauty. You know Overall Beauty, the one that sells BB Couture nail polish? Kim also makes her own mineral makeup and she sent me samples to test of the new line inspired/designed by Gabrielle Faust (though I'm not really sure who that is). I'll do a full review of the collection as soon as I've used and swatched all the colors, but this is what I came up with on my first try.

This was:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Overall Hourglass Sand on lid and as highlight
Overall Vampire Kiss in crease
Overall Misanthrope to darken crease and on lower lashline
Overall Karmic Night applied wet as liner
Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express mascara

Lashes are less clumped together and a little longer but they're still kinda squirrely looking.

The Overall Beauty Minerals were actually nicer than I expected. Not that I expected them to be bad, but I'm just not that much of a matte user and I anticipated chalky patchiness like some mattes, but these applied quite well. A little muddy color-wise, but smooth and silky as far as texture goes. Will have to play around more before I can fully evaluate.

  2. Wow, I love this look! Your lid is almost like my-lid-but-better and the purple really makes your eyes pop. Those mattes look right up my alley.

  3. I wasn't completely in love with the Falsies at first either, but now that I'm using it again, I love it! I find that it works best when you use the short side only, not the wider side.

  4. Beautiful look! I just bought the Falsies too, and I found that I really like it when I only do one thorough coat, after that it starts looking clumpy and kinda gross >.<

  5. I like Medusa mascaras. I think I'd use a primer with them though. This looks is so beautiful!

  6. I'm loving the shadows, but not the mascara. For some reason it makes me think of that picture I saw of the fly legs glued to some poor model's eyes! I had that experience with the XXL formula too.

  7. Looks nice. I haven't tried falsies myself but have always been curious about them.

  8. Love the shadow. Sorry the mascara didn't turn out so well. I have that problem with mascaras that have a really wet formula.

  9. I simply love the way you applied your eyeshadow. I prefer your natural eyelashes, though. You don't need falsies, hun. Your eyes are *perfect* as they are.
And the last photo...BAM! What a look! *dies*

  11. I love, love, love The Falsies! I normally take toilet paper and get off most of the excess first. Then I use the "spoon" side to apply the mascara. If needed, I use the sides for even more separation. I LOVE it though! Don't give up on it yet!

  12. Why don't you continue to use the CG Lash Blast? Your eyes are so pretty and your makeup skills are to die fore.

  13. Try not to apply mascara on the falsie, maybe that will make them look better? idk, never try them bfore.

  14. Scrangie, I applaud your persistence. I'd have shit-canned that mascara before now. It's terrible.

Meanwhile, I haven't told you how amazing I think your makeup skills are. YAY! I may be bugging you for a guest post, soon. :)

    xoxo

  15. Hourglass Sand looks so much more yellow on me than you. It looks amazing on you. I love how you used Vampire Kiss and Misanthrope. Very pretty :)

  16. The colors look so fab on you! how pretty!
Anywho, now that I've seen both of your posts about this mascara, I might pass on it for now. Your lashes definitely look longer this time around, but I think the spider leg look is no bueno for lashes. Thanks for the photos!

  19. I love the looks you did! You have such pretty eyes! Thanks for taking a try at this set.. Yes they are all mattes and I worked really hard at not getting that chalky feel..:) That mascara wow I don't know I'm with *jen I would of gotten rid of it..

  20. Hm, it's strange how mascara has different effects on everyone. The falsies mascara actually separates my lashes wonderfully and lengthens more than any other mascara I've used.
