China Glaze Glitters (Part 1)

Dude. You guys. Glitter. Lots of it. Seriously. I need a moment to regain composure...

*ahem*

Okay. Whew. So, China Glaze has decided to be extremely awesome and give us about FIFTY (yes, fifty, 5-0-, fifty) new glitters.

Do I need to go get the defibrillator? Are you all still with me?

50 new glitters. I mean... it's no secret that I'm a HUGE glitter addict. I can never get enough glitter. There will never be enough glitter in the universe to satisfy me. Naturally I'm extremely excited about this.

I could keep babbling but I'm sure only about a quarter of you ever read anything I say and the rest just scroll down to the pictures (*sniffle*) so... Here's six of the new shades. So far, these are the only six available from the 50 new ones (and I don't think that's counting the Sally Beauty Exclusive ones!)

Bad Kitty. Hot pink jelly with opalescent glitter. The first picture of this makes it a little too warm and washed out, but it shows how sparkly it is. The second picture is more color accurate. This is so hot. I don't even wear pink but I LOVE this. The combination of the sheer hot pink base with all that magical looking glitter suspended in it is just irresistible to me.

Carnival Lights. Soft medium mauve-pink jelly base with small silver glitter and large holographic glitter. Two kinds of glitter, woohoo! Another magical looking shade. This is a much softer and more subdued pink than Bad Kitty and this one has a pretty good mix of the two types of glitter- one doesn't overpower the other. This would also be a pretty great topcoat.

Cosmic. Black creme base with two sizes of hologram glitter. Or maybe it's half silver and half holo? Hard to tell. Maybe I should have worn some topcoat for these pictures... that looks pretty lumpy. This one looked the most appealing to me in the bottle- all of that outrageous holo glitter sticking to the sides against the black base... Be still my heart! But this one didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. I think the black base is too dense for the glitter to break through, so a lot of the glitter gets covered by the black polish and never gets a chance to sparkle. It also looks a bit lumpy- I'm sure a thick topcoat would help that.

Ginger. Metallic golden-copper shimmer base with two kinds of glitter. Some silvery or golden small glitter, some larger round hologram glitter. This isn't the color of actual ginger, but it is the color of Ginger Spice's hair. This is a color that reminds me of both summer and fall. Very cool. This one works beautifully- no lumps and all the glitter shows through.

Meteor Shower. Dark blue creme base with square multicolor glitter. I'm pretty sure these are tiny squares... maybe some round mixed in. At first I thought it was opalescent glitter, the kind that changes from pastel green to blue to gold and orange... But I think this one really is different colors of glitter. It is beyond gorgeous. It's backup worthy. And it needs topcoat.

Preppy Pink. Light candy pink base with opalescent glitter. It's been years since I graduated high school and I still have issues with that word.... But... aside from that, this is an awesome polish. It is ridiculously cute. The color is most accurate in the second picture- the pink is not as warm as the sunlight makes it look. This is the rare shade of pink that actually looks good on my skintone. Just too cute. I have the sudden urge to yell "KAWAII!!!" and give a peace sign.

The formula on these is good. A little on the thick side but that seems to work to your advantage in this situation. I was expecting these to be really sheer and not too buildable, but they're not! The light ones would make great topcoats, but they're so nice and buildable that they can be worn alone. All the polishes here are shown as three coats. The darker shades (Cosmic, Meteor Shower, Ginger) only needed two coats but I did three anyway. These would all benefit from a coat or two of topcoat. I recommend Seche Vite or Poshe with these because they're thick and shiny and will help the polish dry faster. Dry time on these is long.

I love these. It's like a dream come true.... 50 glitters..... Am I dreaming? Somebody pinch me!!
I'm glad that they're not super-sheer because I'm not big into layering. I can't wait to see the rest of the shades. This is the best thing that's happened to polish in a long time!

GLITTER!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!

I must own all of them. Especially Meteor Shower. And Cosmic. And Bad Kitty. And Carnival Lights. And..you get the picture. All of them.

  10. I´ve been visiting your blog for a while now, and I actually do read what you write;). I started discovering and reading polish blogs about a year ago. Until than, I always thought I was the only freak who changed nailpolish (at least once) daily. I'm glad to see I'm not allone....
About the glitters, I'm in love with the first two, you are very privileged to get your hands on the upcoming collections!!-Aurica.

  12. WOW! I thought I'd never fall in love with ûber-glittery polishes, but these look fabulous!
I love Cosmic and Meteor Shower, they look soooo flashy! I just HAVE to buy them... and Carnival Lights, too, that I could wear even at work during dark winter days.
    Thank You for introducing these!

  13. I found that if you take a cotton ball soaked in remover and lightly swipe the top of the dark nail polish it will expose more of the glitters, and top coat will make it shine again.

  14. I always read your entries! Not only is your writing style easy and friendly, but you give excellent advice and reviews. The pictures look awesome but they don't tell me the thickness of the formulas, whether the application went well, what topcoat you used or recommend, or if you layered colors. Your entries are always helpful and fun to read!

Onto the polish... that glitter looks *really* lumpy to me. I'd love to see it with some Seche Vite on top.

Where are you getting these polishes?? I've searched everywhere for the OPI Suedes and the new Color Club collection and have come up empty. I need a successful nail blog so I can get the swank connections!! :P

  17. Holy Glitter! Wow I can't wait to see the rest!

Have you seen the top coat Northern Lights at Sally's?
It's a hologram top coat. It does seem to dry in seconds like the bottle says.

  18. Oh my goodness! I fell in love!

  19. Meteor Shower. Must Have.

I've been keeping an eye out for a nice navy blue glitter, and wow....just wow. I am all about the glitter and the shiny and can't wait to see the rest.

  20. I read what you say! (well, usually ... maybe not so much when I'm sneaking blog peeks at work LOL)

    I can't believe we're getting 50 glitters! & I thought I had a polishgasm when I saw the return of Urban Decay =)

Thanks for swatching these - not an easy task I imagine, glitter after glitter after glitter. If you are a little dissapointed with Cosmic, you might want to try & find Icing Blackout, very similar but the glitter comes through more (I've got pics on my blog from a while ago if you're interested).

  21. I just ordered these today from Victoria Nail Supply. I'm loving all of them. They look so gorgeous on you. I didn't even seen your nails before I ordered. I like pink nail polish but the Preppy Pink is insane. I can't get over how pretty it is. Please someone get me a pink cadillac and a teasing comb for me to do my hair!

  24. So beautiful Scrangie! The first 2 are awesone! But a question...
but when you have to remove the polist, is it difficult to eliminate? There is the risk of scratching your nails?
    Thanks!

  29. I always read every word you say!

I think that both my age and my profession make wearing glitter polish unsuitable . . . but I'm gonna do it anyway! I am definitely planning to buy all of them except the palest pink. When and where can we get them? And (not to be greedy) what is the word on availability for the other ones?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Where did you get these??? Must have Bad Kitty and Preppy Pink! And Meteor Shower! And... okay, I love glitter. Even though my family gives me grief for it. "Aren't you a bit old for that, Electrogirl?" Shut up, family.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mmm, I need Meteor Shower and Preppy Pink for sure, we'll see about the rest.
And I always read what you say. :)

  36. O.O
These are the Japanese-release ones, aren't they?! (except in full-size bottles) *drool*

If someone doesn't read what you're writing, Scrangie, they just don't KNOW what they're missing... and that's sad.

    You're my fav! *love*

    ReplyDelete
  37. O_O Oh China Glaze, how I love thee.. I'm super excited to see all of these. Oh dear.. I need to buy another storage box for all the ones I'll buy =s
Is there a time frame when all of these will be out?

  40. Not only do I read everything you say, your blog is the first I visit when I'm searching for a picture or review of a certain polish or brand! You rock, girl! And I love how you give direct/indirect lighting pictures. : )

  41. 50 is a large number of glitters to release. I am surprised. Zoya has three glitters coming it too for winter.

    ReplyDelete
  42. for the love of all that is holy, have you SEEN the other glitters that have yet to be released on Victorias Nail Supply? i really want Bad Kitty, but i think i'm going to have to wait until Doll House and Gold Digger are out too. man, China Glaze is the freakin' best.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ohhhhhhhh nooooo!! I am supposed to be on a polish no-buy until late October! There goes that plan. I need Bad kitty, cosmic, meteor shower etc.
And i always read what you say!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Gaa! I've been looking all over for these and @ChinaGlaze has been bogged down and hasn't been able to answer. I have 7 of the 8 "Glitters and Chromes" from the Sally's Beauty Supply - no one has the 8th "Muse" and I don't even know what it looks like! Holy crap... 50 - I wonder if I'll be able to keep up (and not blow another $250 on them all!)

    ReplyDelete
  45. omg! The things I miss when real life takes over.

how long has this been in the works?!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Woah... seriously.. I probably need 100 backups. These are gonna be in the core collection, right?! *faints*

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't typically like glitter OR pink polish, yet somehow I NEED all three of these pink glitter shades. How do they do that? Damn you China Glaze!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Were these a pain in the butt to remove? I always have that prob with glitter nailpolish.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think I've died and gone to glitter heaven! Thanks for that :)

  50. wow preppy pink is my favorite = ]

  51. So cool, I was getting tired of these mattes when all I want is shiny sparkly things.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh my it's been months I've been working on a nail polish order and now I have to rethink the whole, I've had a look at those on Victoria Nail Supply and so many are just gorgeous.

http://www.victoriasnailsupply.com/glshcr.html (I don't work for them lol just to show polishes to people anyway most are out of stock)

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's silly but it's so pretty that I could cry lol. :')

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ok you Scrangie person. This is Jim, 'justhavingfun's husband (aka The Old Geezer) posting on a nail polish blog of all things. What will the guys think? Anyway, I'm posting because the ambulance just left w/my wife who suffered a major collapse after seeing this glitter-thing post and pictures. I don't know what happened to her - she just screamed & fell off her chair, out like a light. Shame on you for blogging such dangerous things on your blog. The paramedics say the only way to save her is if I buy her all these FIFTY colors. Good God!!! (jk)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Do you think nail polish thinner would help out the chunky black one?

    ReplyDelete

  62. Could anyone suggest a pink creme the same color as the base color in Preppy Pink? I want to see if I can layer opal glitter with it and create a similar effect...

    ReplyDelete
  63. *swear words* After this brilliant post (and I always read your posts - you are witty and clever and very useful), I immediately headed over to Head2Toe and discovered they don't sell China Glaze overseas any more. WTF?? And 8ty8 doesn't have this in yet. Anyone know of any good, reliable e-tailers who ship overseas? I needs me a glitter fix!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I NEED Bad Kitty ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. LOL 50 new glitters, send me some girl! ;)
