Nicole by OPI Target Exclusive Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches and Review

Nicole by OPI has more Target exclusives this year and they are quite interesting. Two of them are dupes of recent "mirror chrome" colors you may already have, but the rest of them are completely unique and awesome.

Nicole For Gold Times Sake. This is a polish made up of many different colors of microglitter. The overall color of the polish is an olive gold with red/orange duochrome flash. It shifts colors from earthy dirty olive to pinkish red bronze depending on the lighting. I can see gold, green, light blue, purple, pink and red iridescent particles in this polish.

Nicole If The Blue Fits.... This is another multicolored microglitter duochrome. The overall color is a vibrant indigo blue with green and purple duochrome flash. I can see pink, purple, blue, green, gold and red iridescent particles in here. All the little speckles of shimmer/glitter in here change color when you tilt your nails.

Nicole Iris My Case. Oh.... another one of these purple chromes with slight orange duochrome. Yawn. Okay, okay, it's not a bad color at all, in fact I really like it, it's just... I have three dupes of this already. I love the finish and the duochrome, but can we have a new color now? This and every Peridot dupe might be this year's OPI Catch Me In Your Net.

Nicole Just Busta Mauve. This is just the coolest thing I've ever seen from Nicole. What a crazy polish. It's just like For Gold Times Sake and If The Blue Fits..., except this one is red-bronze based and all the colors really clash and stand out. It's amazing. There's a dark pink and bronze base with lots of orange, gold, blue, purple and red and a strong gold flash with just the tiniest hint of a green duochrome at the most extreme angle.

Nicole Mer-made For Each Other. Blue-green-teal-gold multichromatic chrome-like shimmer. Looks a lot like China Glaze Unpredictable. It's not a Chanel Péridot dupe, but it's in the same family.

The formula on all was just right. The glitters were extremely fine (more of a flat glass fleck or a very small foil particle than a chunky glitter) and very opaque. The chromes were smooth and even, not particularly thick or thin. None of them gave me any trouble to apply and they all looked fantastic at three coats. Drying time is fast on all shades, but the chromes are faster than the glitters. The glitters don't dry dull, but they do sparkle more with topcoat. The chromes don't need topcoat at all (unless you want it, but it doesn't make a difference in the shine).

Amazing set of exclusives this year. The Target exclusives are usually good, but this time they're extra awesome. I could have done without the chrome clones, but they're still really pretty. I would have definitely preferred two more colors of this new multicolored glitter duochrome formula for sure. The multicolored glitter duochromes are unique in my collection and are definitely worth checking out if you see them on the shelf. I'm really impressed that Nicole has done something completely different than anything else I've seen lately. Bravo. These glitters rule.

This collection is available now exclusively at Target.

  8. 100% agree with everything you said about these. I love the glitters and can't wait to scout them out! The chromes are great, but already have similar ones. Awesome swatches as usual :)

  12. Great swatches :) But why can't they make some more original polishes, I just felt "more dupées?" In the bottle pics Nicole Iris My Case almost looked like "CG no plain jane" and then as you said, the unpredictable-dupé.

  13. I would never have picked 'Just Busta Mauve' from the name but I love it! I need to befriend someone who lives next door to a Target and pay them in Fantasy Fires :) Great swatches as always. I never buy a polish unless I've checked here first, you've saved me from so many lemons and dupes, = more money for more stuff!

  15. For Gold Time Sake is nearly identical to OPI's Number One Nemesis from the Amazing Spiderman collection. I bought FGTS because I thought it was lovely, then when I got it home I thought, wait a minute... this looks familiar...

I swatched them side by side and sure enough there's hardly any difference. It's pretty, but it's kind of a bummer to see them replicate such a recent color in another line.

    1. I can't say I agree- Number One Nemesis is a lot like Chanel Graphite, but I don't find it that similar to For Gold Times Sake. Too much multicolor glitter and duochrome!

    2. I thought they looked the same too but they're completely different.

    3. That's crazy! I wonder if you got an off bottle or...? I didn't find them similar but after reading your comment I had was compelled to double check. I just swatches and compared them and I'm seeing a ton of differences!

  19. Love Just Busta Mauve!! I hate the NOPI bottles and I usually avoid getting them...but I might just go and visit Target today. Thanks!

  20. Oh phew, I don't need any of these. :) Since I'd have to go to the US for a Target, that's a good thing. ;) Thank you for your great swatches, as always!

(PS - I sent you an email the other day; did you receive it? I just wanted to make sure you did.)

  21. I looked for these yesterday and my nearby Target didn't have them yet - I may go to a bigger Target next week. I love For Gold Times Sake on its own and I think I have to own Just Busta Mauve for the name...

  22. I loathe the bottle shape, but I think I need Just Busta Mauve

  24. I'm currently in lust with Just Busta Mauve, its magnificent. I will liklely only ever Lust Just Busta Mauve,as they are exclusives and their are no Targets where I live:(

  25. I wish I could find If the Blue Fits...That shade is nowhere to be found in my area. It's not even listed on the displays with the other shades.

  26. So I picked up busts mauve a few days ago... and looking at my nails, and looking at yours... it seems you got way more blue than I did! Mines mostly a dusty rosey sparkle with a slight scattering of blue :( idk if the picture just fooled me, or I got an off bottle... but I an utterly underwhelmed. I'm currently wearing it under a black shatter Polish, which I hoped would help the glitter pop, but no... next I may experiment with a matte topcoat. After coming back to this review, I think I wanna try gold times now! Oh, what have I gotten myself into...

  27. I got them all, I admit it. They're even prettier in person. I was very surprised; I've hardly ever bought a Nicole polish before and am generally not impressedAm wearing the gold one right now and even in my poorly lit house it's so pretty. *sigh* I love this kinda texture, shimmer, color....purrfect.
