Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet Swatches and Review

Ninja Polish, a new US-based online retailer for hard-to-find import polishes, has just released their very own house brand polish. Their first collection, called Facets, consists of three different multichromatic glitter polishes, all based on real life color-changing gemstones: Alexandrite, Zultanite, and this one, Color Changing Garnet:

Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet (four coats). This is a semi-sheer polish when worn on its own. The base consists of tiny multichromatic shimmer particles (think Clarins 230) and it's peppered with multicolored glitter. The base starts off with a garnet red hue and shifts to orange, gold and green. The glitter also changes with the angle, starting off looking dominantly red and bronze and flashing to purple and gold. The multichrome effect in this is very strong, even worn by itself. But, if you want to turn it up a notch, try layering it over a darker base color:

Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet, one coat over black creme.

The formula on this is very good. It's on the thick side but not gooey, dry, dragging or stringy. It's easy to get thin, even coats, partially due to the smooth formula but also because of the excellent wide brush. The brush is almost identical to an OPI Pro-Wide (which I am a huge fan of), so it's easy to get a good application with it. The color is sheer when worn alone (I used four coats for solo wear), but one coat is sufficient for layering over an opaque base. Dry time is average. The glitter doesn't dry rough but it does look best with a coat of thick topcoat.

Awesome polish. You know me, if it's duochrome or glitter it's pretty much instant love, but this one is duochrome AND glitter, so it's even better. The color change is very, very strong and the formula is good. I think it's an absolute steal for only $11, especially considering the price of all the comparable import duochromes that have bad formula and tiny bottles.

Ninja Polish Color Changing Garnet is available exclusively online at Ninja Polish, $11 for a 0.5 fl oz bottle.

  2. Are these at all similar to the Ozotic Elytra colors?

    1. A little bit- The glitter is similar but the overall looks are different. The Elytras are just glitter, these are glitter and multichrome shimmer so the entire polish changes color.

  10. I wonder if it would look the same as it does solo, when layered over a nude... So you wouldn't have to do so many coats!

  18. Pretty but not a fan of glitter - I prefer shimmers to get my glitz on - maybe this one is smooth enough in just one coat not to make too much of a 'crunchy' top layer?

  28. Nija polish has some of the most amazing polishes on their site but they never keep enough stock on hand to accomodate anything past a days worth of sales. I don't even know why they send stuff to review on blogs when they do this. I've even asked to be notified when they've gotten new stock in & when I did get notified they were already sold out again. & I'm not willing to spend all of my time skulking around a website just to by a bottle of polish. But that color is VERY gorgeous.

  29. Scrangie, do you know that there is a blog that is stealing full posts from other bloggers? They stole this review too: http://nailscolor365.blogspot.ca/2012/08/ninja-polish-color-changing-garnet.html

  30. Is it just me or does their packaging look like an opi knock off?... And the brush is similar to the pro-wide brush...

  31. This is absolutely nuts. Why can't people do their own work. Just stealing posts and trying to get paid via adds or freebies is really low and now they have hit Scrangie. First it's sellers stealing photos for their auctions now this?
