Jessica Spicy Dream Collection Fall 2012 Swatches and Review

Another gorgeous nail color collection for fall 2012. This one takes the traditional route of vampy reds and shimmery autumn earth tones and I'm quite happy about that. There are some fantastic polishes in here, exactly the kinds of colors I want to see in fall.

Jessica 734 Cinnamon Kiss. A vampy blackened red shimmer. This has a little gold shimmer and just a hint of a gold flash to it. The color is very rich and jewel-like and I find it to be quite sexy.

Jessica 735 Pumpkin Delight. Holy crap. This is amazing. It's a multi-colored duochrome foil and it has pumpkin in its name. It's like it was made for me! The base color is mostly a red-orange speckled foil with lots of red, gold, bronze and wine accents. The polish itself has a red-orange to gold duochrome color shift and it looks different in every type of lighting. The foil finish is dense and sparkly and you can see distinct yet small particles of many different colors mixed throughout the polish.

Jessica 736 Gingersnap. Very similar to Pumpkin Delight, just in different foil colors. In Gingersnap I see mainly brown and gold with red, green, purple and orange accents. The duochrome effect in this one is a shift from darker red-brown to lighter yellow-gold. The almost glittery sparkle and the multicolored speckled foil finish are present in this one as well. Very interesting color, so many different things going on in it. Reminds me of colors like OPI Pros and Bronze or Warm and Fozzy.

Jessica 737 Crimson Tattoo. Very dark vampy wine red creme. Really, really dark. With only one coat it's a really pretty plum-red jelly, but it's a little bit uneven with just the one coat. The second coat gives it its blackened appearance.

Jessica 738 Champagne Bubbles. Light silvery champagne foil. There are little hints of orange and gold mixed in with platinum and champagne, so it's not a straight single-color foil. It's like a much more subtle yet rougher version of OPI Designer, De Better.

Jessica 739 Brown Sugar. A red-toned brown frost. That pretty much says it all.

The formula on these was good. It was thick but even and smooth-applying. The brushes were back to normal so application was much easier than it was with the spring collection. I did three very thin coats of each, though only Champagne Bubbles actually needed the third coat. The rest were opaque in two, but more intense and rich with three. Dry time is on the long side.

Fantastic fall collection. I absolutely adore Pumpkin Delight and Gingersnap. Cinnamon Kiss and Crimson Tattoo are gorgeous as well, just not really unique. Champagne Bubbles is meh and Brown Sugar is downright hideous on me, but the rest are autumn perfection. I really love rich oranges, reds, golds and browns in fall so this collection hit all the right notes with me. They even added a little bit of duochrome, how about that! The only thing I really dislike about the collection is the name- Spicy Dream???

The Jessica Spicy Dream Collection was supposed to be available starting early August, but it doesn't appear to be up on the website yet. It should be available for purchase shortly on jessicacosmetics.com, or by calling 1-800-582-4000.

  3. They must read your blog! It looks custom made for you. The last one looks okay in the first picture but then you can see the frost in the second. Definitely the weak link. Sorry to show my ignorance, but how does a foil differ from a fine glitter?

    1. A foil has flat, smooth metallic particles- like a foil candy wrapper, and they're usually very opaque with a reflective, textured metal finish. A fine glitter is usually not flat-particled, they tend to be somewhat chunky and usually more sheer. And then there's glass fleck, which is like the lovechild of glitter and foil :)

  5. Ugh, can I have all of these!? Thank you for the swatches, I'm going to have to think twice about getting all of the OPI fall polishes I wanted... These are just lovely.

  10. Could never wear Brown Sugar - red browns look horrible on me. Champagne Bubbles looks like holiday to me and not a fall collection - but it's still kind of pretty - don't think I would wear it however. Gingersnap and Pumpkin Spice (Oh I want a Pumpkin Spice Late sooo bad)...are just too much alike for me to take both of 'em...and with Jessica needing to be mail ordered I tend to hate it when there is only 1 maybe 2 that I want. Really want to see Jessica get marketed in a better way so it's more accessible. Cinnamon Kiss looks a ton like something I know I have already..now what is it? I so need to thin down the stash - I have too many to enjoy and know what I have well. Guess with that last statement, good thing I don't really think I will order any in this collection. I have to shop at home and clean out.

  11. Those are so so gorgeous! I love love love Cinnamon Kiss. I agree on the odd name for the collection, Spicey Dream? I guess it works. It reminds me of the new hot sauce at Taco Bell or something.

  12. Champagne Bubbles is SUCH a cute name for that color, it really does resemble the name!

  13. Cinnamon Kiss has my name all over it - I adore blackened reds. I would also consider Pumpkin Delight because I don't have anything really similar in my collection and it just screams fall.

  19. They're gorgeous! Is there a color similar to Pumpkin Delight from Zoya? I feel like I've seen it before! How does Gingersnap compare to Estee Lauder Nouveau Riche (Gingersnap looks darker, more bronzer)?

    1. Hmm... I can't think of a Zoya that looks like Pumpkin Delight! I know they have a lot with that flaky foily finish, but I'm drawing a blank! And I don't have the Estee Lauder polish, not sure what it looks like, sorry :(

  21. Love these colors! Question: how does Cinnamon Kiss compare to OPI's German-icure? They look pretty darn close, and I'd choose Pumpkin Delight and Ginger Snap over the OPI colors...if Cinnamon Kiss is a dupe (or nearly) I'll be getting three from Jessica...

    1. It is rather similar, though I haven't worn them together to be sure. Same type of finish, same type of deep red color :)

  26. Could you please compare Pumpkin Delight to OPI Take The Stage and Gingersnap to OPI Rising Star if you have them? If I order these and pay postage I want to make sure I am not getting dupes of these. Thanks. Love your site!
