Layering with Sally Hansen Midnight Sky

Here's the layering combination I did with Sally Hansen Midnight Sky:

This is a base of two coats of Sally Hansen Midnight Sky, one coat of Fright Night Claw Polish Pixie Sparkle Topcoat and one coat of Sancion Angel Flakies in Mary Poppins. You might have to enlarge the pictures to see the incredible blue flakes, but they look so amazing in real life. Mary Poppins might be my favorite flaky topcoat ever. A representative from Sancion Angel sent me a couple flakies to review and that was the one that jumped out at me. Blue subtle flakes in a clear base. Smaller than the flakes in the Nfu Oh flaky polishes.

The idea I had was to see if I could make Midnight Sky look more like Chanel Graphite by adding some gold sparkle. It looked great with the subtle gold holo microglitter from the Claw Polish and I wore it like that for a day. Then I couldn't leave well enough alone and added the Sancion Angel polish just to see what it looked like and BAM! Awesome happened. Blue sparkles make anything better.

  1. Mary Poppins is so cool! I love flakies that are different form the norm!

  2. This is gorgeous!

To dupe Graphite, how about trying Chanel's Black satin (or any almost black polish), a layer of a sheer fine gold glitter polish (I'm thinking China Glaze but forgot the name of the lacquer) and then a thin coat of a sheer metallic dark silvery gray?

  3. OOOH where was this blue flakey in a clear base when I was looking for just this around 4th of July??? I am going to see if I can find this one. Our SH anything is always really picked over - that is if we even get the line or the collection this is from.

  5. Greeneyespinknails, interesting, thanks for the suggestion!

Beachgal, they're from Brazil, they have a website you can order from but it's in Portuguese. I'm not aware of anyone else who carries these!

  6. Oohh you know sancion angel? I came to know this brand a while ago, because they carry the most amazing holos!

they named them after female heroines like alice (in wonderland), morgan (mists of avalon), ivy (poison ivy), luna (from harry potter) etc ...

you said to not spam you with links, but maybe you would like to see their holos ... they look amazing.
I only didn't order them because their formula still contains the "big bad 3" ...

  8. I really appreciate how you posted these pictures so quickly like you so said you would in your previous post. And the layering combo really does resemble midnight sky as its name suggest! Sooo cosmic and pretty! Hmmm I wonder how cosmic nails can be achieved.

  9. Grrr. Sancion Angel has like TEN flakies, three of which I'd buy right now - yet it seems they don't ship to the US (I put in my shipping zip code and it said "invalid"). Beachgal, would you settle for blue glitter in a clear base? I just ordered 5 L.A. Girl Glitter Addict polishes, and they are SUPER good. Clear base with microglitter plus big hex glitter - good distribution, enough stuff that 1 coat is a great accent, 3 coats is pretty solid. Also? $4 each! And free shipping on a $25 order!

  10. Beachgal and Collier, have you tried Nfu Oh before? You can order them from FabulouStreet.com- the Shiny Opal range is all flakies. Wasn't sure if you had seen them before or not- ignore me if you're already familiar with them :)

  15. @ Scrangie -- A fabulous bestie sent me two Nfu-Ohs, one of which is a flakie (#52). It is indeed gooooorgeous, but the brush on both is SODDING ENORMOUS. Seriously, it's like the brush you get with the plastic watercolor sets in first grade. I even cleaned it off and gave it a haircut, and it's still ridic...plus, dry time was nuts.

What's extra-appealing about many of the Sancion flakies is that they seem to be in a clear or clear-ish base - much more versatile. Sancion Angel, please find a US distributor!

  17. Thank you, everyone :D

Collier, aha! I see! I never noticed anything odd about my Nfu Oh brushes, but if you hated that then wait until you see the Sancion Angel brush... It's a big hairy MOP! lol

  18. Wow, thought I misread "sancion angel", wasn´t expecting to see a brazilian polish on your nails.

I am not a fan of the brand, lots of girls here were disappointed when they advertised about they new holos with perfect pictures. They bought these polishes based on the release and when they came out they were beautiful but not holo at all. I have 3 of this line.

Have you ever heard about another brazilian brand called Rivka? If you have a little time in your hands search flickr for Jenny, similar to revvvolution, gorgeous.

The combination looks perfect on you, and that´s what matters, right? :)

  19. ARGH, seriously? I have smaller-than average nails, and that ginormous brush is like... I might as well be using a paint roller, or just dip them in a freaking bucket. Maybe I ought to stock up on a bunch of empty bottles & brushes and decant the NfuOhs into something usable...

  21. Jealous! I tried to order a few Sancion Angel polishes a month or two ago and encountered the same zip code problem :(
Tried contacting them, but I got a very jumbled online-translated response asking my if I tried my credit card :P

  22. Hi, I'm here again because there are some problems with Sancion Angel polishes, and today SA is topic #1 on Twitter. If you want to know more about pretty holographic Brazilian polishes, try to order Rivka or Hits. High quality.

  25. Sancion Angel is not trustworthy at all, you guys... Here in Brazil some scams are being brought to public, finally... They do stuff like sell other brand polishes in their name... Like said before, Rivka and Hits are MUCH better and honest... And seriously, Sancion Angel prices are veeery abusive...

  26. That layering is beautiful! I thought you had layered Chanel Illusion d'Or on top for a moment.

  27. What exactly is claw polish? A brand of nail polish?
