Revlon Sheer Pearl over Essie To Buy, Or Not To Buy

Here's a random layering experiment manicure that I wore this week. I already like Revlon Sheer Pearl on its own, but I wanted to see if more colors would come out if I layered it over another color.

Revlon Sheer Pearl (one coat) over Essie To Buy, or Not To Buy (three coats). The pale lilac base doesn't add any real color to the semi-sheer pearl polish, but it does seem to change which colors show up most. By itself, the pink duochrome flash in Sheer Pearl is dominant. But layered over the pastel purple, I get to see more of the purple and turquoise colors in the polish. Layering it over an opaque base also seems to make its large shimmer particles seem even bigger.

I like how this turned out. For some reason I've been really into 'bubble' colors lately. Colors that remind me of soap bubbles... Light colors, even very sheer ones, that have an iridescent/duochrome sheen to them. Love them.

  1. This one looks a little like the white Essence you were wearing before?
I have almost all whites/soft shades! (and glitters) This combo is very beautiful, I wish I could find a color like bubbles :)
My lasts purchases were Zoya Gaia and OPI Fit for a Queensland (dupe of chanel intermezzo), both whites with an extra something!

  4. Your nails are gorgeous, in absolute perfect condition, but I don't think this combo is one that would suit me - I've kinda gone off duochromes, I think I've resigned myself to the fact that the majority of them do nothing for my colouring :/

  5. Your manicure is so soft and sweet! :) Very nice!

Hehe, and when I saw that you added the photo of tiny bubbles, it made me think of the song and how they used it in one of the mental challenges in The Mole: The Next Betrayal! Hahaha! One poor guy had to listen to different variations of Tiny Bubbles for an insane amount of time. Can't believe he was able to do it!

Hope you're having a great Saturday, Scrangie! :)

  6. Essie Kisses & Bisses started this same bubble colors trend for me and brought me back to lighter colors being something I really wanted to wear. Then I picked up a beautiful white pearl (also from Revlon -forgets name right now) @ holiday time & the beautiful white in the holiday Orly collection), started to play with whites and iridescent toppers...pure heaven on nails!
