New Year's Eve Eyes and Nails

I got a late start on New Year's Eve, so I was in too much of a hurry to come up with anything really creative for my eyes or nails. I knew I wanted something that dried quickly for my nails and I wanted lots of glitter on my eyes. This is what I came up with:

This was:
Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in Sterling (I really miss those lovely rectangular bottles)
Speciallita HITS Hefesto (one coat) over Sterling
Konad plate m57 with Konad Black Special Polish
Little Fing'rs Girlie Nails decals
Konad Special Top Coat

Super tacky and horrible, but fun at the same time. I had a picture in my mind of black over silver holo with neon accents and this is what came out. Not exactly how I wanted it to look but at least the Konad stamp looked nice and crisp. I think Bundlemonster has more interesting designs, but the Konad plates are just so much nicer in quality and come out better 99% of the time. The only problem with the Konad full nail designs is that they're so big that I end up stamping on my skin and getting black polish in my cuticles. But I'd rather have a design that's too big than one that's too small.

I should have probably skipped the decals. I love the designs (neon skulls!) but they sorta ruined the polish. I didn't wait long enough between any of the steps so I ended up with a lot of bubbling as the polish dried, especially under the decals.

Next time I'm going to do hologram silver glitter instead of the chrome because this didn't look nearly as holographic or sparkly silver as I wanted it to.

Eyes were pretty much the same as last year. Black and silver with hologram glitter. Was feeling uninspired.
This was:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
MAC Pigment in Platinum on lid
Hourglass Prism duo, black shade (it has rainbow sparkles!) in crease
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy on lid over Platinum (to hold the glitter)
MAC glitters in 3D Silver and 3D Gold mixed (1:1) on lid and lower lashline over Pixie Epoxy
Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion

Last year I did 3D silver on the lid only. This year I mixed gold and silver for more color and put it all around my eye instead of just on my lid. Looked way more flashy in real life, still haven't quite figured out how to get the glitter in eyeshadow pictures to look right.

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy is amazing for glitters. I still don't have much luck using it with loose shadows, but now I won't wear heavy glitter without it. It grabs it and keeps it on your eye all day with virtually no fallout. The one thing you have to watch out for is that trying to sweep on the glitter like eyeshadow over Pixie Epoxy causes it to dull and look cloudy. You have to pat it on gently and not press too hard or smudge it.

Maybe next year I'll wake up earlier and not rush my eyes and nails so much. Maybe I'll even do something original instead of the same thing I did in previous years! XD

Happy new year, everyone.

  13. Love both looks!
I have only konad plates (so I can´t compare) but I find the full nail designs really small. I bought them a couple of months ago, have they changed?
    Happy New Year!!
