Speciallità Hits no Olimpo Holographic Nail Collection Swatches and Review

I know we've all been craving some new holos lately, so when Speciallità asked me if I wanted to review their Hits no Olimpo collection, I was super excited. The Hits no Olimpo collection is a set of thirteen holographic shades, all named after deities of the Greek pantheon.

All photos are in this order: Natural light, flash, sunlight.

Afrodite. A coral pink linear holo. This one is so much prettier in real life. It's really rich and almost candy-like. It doesn't look like most other pink holos.

Apolo. Deep blue linear holo. This one is super holographic and very vibrantly blue. I have to say... Much better than OPI Designer Series Magic.

Ares. A bold, fiery red linear holo. This is a finer holo than Ozotic Pro 621 or Glitter Gal Red Holo. This one is amazing.

Artemis. What's this? A unique silver holographic?! It's true. Instead of being pure silver holo particles like most, this is a smooth silver chrome base with holo mixed in. It looks half chrome and half holo, but the end result is beautiful. And I know it's supposed to be named for the goddess of the hunt, but I always think of this when I hear Artemis:

Atena. A deep pink linear holo. I really like seeing holographic polishes in these brightly colored shades! I'm honestly a little sick of all the pastel holos. These shades are really refreshing.

Demeter. Wow... an orange holo. I never thought I'd see one! But this one is most definitely orange and it is quite holographic. Not as strong in hologram effect as the other shades, but still pretty good. I don't think I've ever seen an orange holo before, so this is fantastic!

Dionisio. Deep blue-toned purple holo. One of the darker colors in the collection. Similar to, but not an exact match of, a england Lady of the Lake.

Hefesto. Sheer silver holographic. I believe that this is supposed to be a topcoat, but it works very well by itself. I really like the look of the clear base with the super holo effect. It looks magical. I haven't tried this over any other colors yet, but I can say with confidence that it will definitely have a much stronger hologram effect than China Glaze Wireless topcoat. I mean... look at it. It's awesome!

Hera. Deep teal holo. I'm so happy about all these darker/deeper/richer colored holographic polishes. Very relieved that this collection isn't full of just pale pink/silver/gold/lime green/pastel blue holo shades.

Hermes. This color. I can't get over it. It's so gorgeous. Like Artemis, it's not a pure holographic finish. It's a pale gold chrome with holo. I don't think I have used another gold holo quite like this. This is a 'rich girl' polish if I ever saw one. It screams luxury. Doesn't it look expensive? Gold plated and diamond encrusted.

Hestia. Here's the pale pink holo. It's not bad, though- this one has a bit of purple in it so it's almost more of a lilac than a pure pink. Very strong linear holo effect in this one, too.

Poseidon. This one may have the strongest hologram effect out of all the shades. I think it's because the base is a little more metallic than the other shades. The rest of them seem to have jelly bases, but this one reminds me of a China Glaze Kaleidoscope.

Zeus. I love this so much. It's a black holo. If you missed out on the original version of OPI My Private Jet, this is practically the same thing, only a little bit better. More opaque, more holo, a little darker. Not too dull or too scattered looking like Color Club Revvvolution or Bloom Mena. Pretty much perfect. Nice and dark with a really strong rainbow shine.

The formula on these was good. It's very different from most holographic formulas I've tried. It's not runny, it doesn't clump or make bald spots, it doesn't look dull. It feels like normal nail polish. It applies effortlessly. It doesn't dry as quickly as normal holographic formula, but it doesn't take any longer than your average non-holo polish. They dry shiny and they wear well without chipping right away. The brushes in these are pretty good, too. They're like a slimmer version of the OPI Pro Wide.

I am really impressed with these. There are quite a few unique colors in the collection and not just your predictable pastel metallic holo shades. The formula was so much better than I'm used to holo formula being. The names and bottles are cool. I really like the bolder, darker colors and I like how every polish has a strong hologram effect. No weak ones here!

I also have to comment on how much I like Speciallità's website. Even though I don't understand any Portuguese, I was still able to navigate the site with ease. They have clear, accurate pictures and a page where you can view all the shades at once. From what I can tell online, it looks like they have a ton of other really cool colors besides the Hits no Olimpo holos. It even looks like they have an entire collection of flaky glitters!

The only downside I can find to this collection is that the polishes are small and expensive for the amount of polish you get. I know that the holographic material is expensive, so I understand why brands would charge more for it. The Speciallità Hits no Olimpo polishes are 6ml (that's about 0.2 fluid ounces) and cost R$8,00 from Speciallità or $10.00 USD from Llarowe. $8,00 Brazilian Real is actually only about $4.60 US, but I don't know if shipping from Brazil would cost more than the savings.

Overall, great polishes. My picks would be Demeter, Zeus, Hermes, Ares, Apolo and Hefesto topcoat. But they're all good, not a bad one in the bunch. Easy to apply, non-patchy formula and bright color with strong linear hologram effect. Only wish the bottles were a little bigger!

(These were sent to me for review.)

My pics are Atena, Apolo and Hera - but I also love Dionísio and Ares

  5. WOW!!! How amazed am I to see these guys here! I got my Hefesto today as well. Nice coincidence!
They are the same as Glitter Gall, no? Same capacity, only Glitter Gal is 14 bucks a piece! I definetly think Hits is a better choice, though.

  6. Wow! I love how much depth is in the base colors. A lot of linear holos look really dull and flat in shade, but these are gorgeous no matter the lighting. I'm especially excited about the fact that there's a nice red holo out now. I need Ares!

  7. Oh pretty! Thanks for reviewing these. I've never heard of them but now I want to find someone from Brazil to swap with!

  8. Whoa - those are gorgeous! I'm wondering, though, what happened to poor Hades? When I scrolled down to see the pictures of Zeus I was pretty sure it would be Hades and was surprised to see it wasn't.

  9. They're amazing!!! I dream for Hera!

Infortunately out of stock (for my favourites Ares, Zeus and Appollo) or not shipped to France! :(

    I love your pictures!!!

  10. This collection is very beautiful. The best is that it is true, what is exatamete in Brazil's found in stores.
The colors are beautiful and varied and holographic left me very satisfied.
In addition to these glazes are not expensive and have allergy toluene and formaldehyde in its formula. As I have allergies to toluene can not use these beauties from Olympus!
The best way to acquire one is through this exchange, here the girls make much use of this practice.
    Beautiful demonstrations, congratulations.

  13. Penemuel, Hades is not an Olympian, which is the theme of the collection.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thank you, everyone! I really loved these and they were highly recommended to me by everyone even before I'd ever seen them!

Penemuel, I know, poor Hades! We have Hestia but no Hades. I guess it's because he probably doesn't spend much time up on old Olympus... Bet he would have been a cool color, though.

  15. Haha at Artemis. Love that cat! All the polishes are so nice! Hefesto, Poseidon, & Zeus are my favorites!

  20. @Keks: I'm sorry to have to correct you, but Hades is 1 of the right-by-birth Olympian Gods. He became ruler of the underground because he won this territory in th war against the older gods. I guess Hits just didn't want the Bas connotation.:)

  25. I need to get my hands on some of these! Zeus, Dionisio and Apolo are on my list now!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mnemo, what I mean is he does not have a seat in the Pantheon like the other 12 (or 13, depending on the source, before Hestia stepping down), as he is the ruler of the underworld. That is the concept of the collection =D

Scrangie, I was just wondering how these compare in price to the Glitter Gal ones including shipping to Canada? I can't seem to figure out how to get the site to tell me this xD

  48. Must...resist...temptation to buy them all! Seeing as that I blew the bank buying the OMG polishes from eBay (it took me a year), I'm under a self-imposed a no buy.

    So pretty...
BTW, I'm of the Sailor Moon generation too. I still have the posters & action figures.

    ReplyDelete
  49. When I first saw these posted by Sarah, I think I fell out of my chair. (She's Brazilian and runs Them Pretty Colors!) These are mind-blowingly good and I NEED Ares and Zeus, but I want them all!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was thinking about picking up Hefesto from this collection but I think I am going to have to pick up some more from seeing your swatches. So pretty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Holy crap... I hope I can find someone to swap for a couple of these! I am seriously wanting Zeus and Apolo!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have them all! *-*
Well i actually have at least two of all of them. Cause i ought the whole collection and won a contest here in brazil. But Hefesto.. damn! He's my sweet heart. I think i already dried empty a bottle and still have 4 more to go. I'm actually stocking them. Hera is CRAZY gorgeous. All of them are. And just a tip for you guys - since here is alreary expensieve and shipping doesn't make it come cheapper since they're jelly like you can use all of them as topcoat of similar shades so you guys don't have to apply 3 coats or whatever. Specialitá was REALLY happy with this nail polishes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. We here in Brazil also loved to have larger bottles of this ones. I've got two Hefesto, just in case =)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think of Artemis the cat too!!! lol
I'm glad to see Hits being recognized in other countries besides ours :) they totally deserve it!

The best thing about this collection is that it's going to be core! so no hurrying to get them before it sells out! :D

  59. Woman you cost me so much money!!!! I have been checking your site daily for at least a year now and I don't think I have ever commented. Probably because I'm left speechless haha. I love your site. I love your nails. I love your wit. Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Gorgeous. I love holos. The beige one looks, day I say, work appropriate. I may have to order the lot of these. Sigh. Who needs electricity and running water when there are holos to be had!

    ReplyDelete
  61. You totally made a lemming out of me. I want Atena, Dionisio, Hera, Hermes and Hefesto. Out of curiosity, I went and checked the Brazilian site. While the polishes are RS 40, the shipping is RS 58. So the total would be RS 98, which equals $55.92 USD.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I tried to order and it was easy up until there was every other country EXCEPT US, and llarowe is sold out of almost all of them of course. But I will get them eventually.

Awesome swatch photos as usual, Scrangie!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Darn I want all of these but have no CPF. These and the flakies are gorgeous!! Anyone know what to do??

    ReplyDelete
  64. That swap ideia is not bad AT ALL.
Since some holos and UBER nail polishes can be found only here or there we could swap. I'd be willing to trade my olimpus hits for some dws, OMG or ozotic. If anyone should be so interested lemme know on violet.castus@gmail.com.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thank you for reviewing these! If possible, I was wondering if you could do a comparison between Atena & OPI DS Exclusive. They look so similar, but I would love to see how close they are!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Very beautiful it, sorry I have not find them for sale here. But I will definitely stock the Hefesto!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hits are the best holos we can find in Brazil, and I don't think we - brasileiras! - are missing out on anything regarding holos!

Definitely, there will be a lot of proud brazilians willing to swap, but it's important to remember that this are NOT TOLUENE AND FORMALDEHYDE FREE. Still, they are just awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks, Scrangie, for the beautiful swatches!
This collection was quite a UAU moment for the nail polish industry in Brazil! And I think they represent well with quality and variety!
Their “flakies” collection is very nice too… There are swatches here:

    and here: http://www.nosamamosesmaltes.com/2011/04/04/colecao-mundo-das-dancas-hits/
If the girls here need any help with the translation on the website maybe I can help!
I live in Rio and maybe I can try to figure out a way to send/swap some polishes since my brother living in San Diego now.

  71. I'm in love with these polishes. I was all set to order them all when I read some of the posts. Damn!

  72. Afrodite's coral pink holo is so so cute! I'm sure it is prettier in real life!! it's already cute in the pics!!

the second one deep blue holo is also very gorgeous! love this blue!!

I also love Dionisio's deep blue/purple holo. >_< how come they are so pretty.....

the last one Zeus black holo is stunning!!! so similar to butter LONDON The Black Knight!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Zeus is nothing like Butter London Black Knight. Black Night is a glitter with different colored glitter particles, not a rainbow of holo.

  73. Honey, these Hits are very beautiful! I have 4 of these babies: Poseidon (my favorite), Zeus, Athena and Hera. You need to see the holos and duochromes made by Ludurana, are so amazing too! Finally, Brazil has various effects as beautiful as the rest of the world.

If you want to see one the holos and on the fivechrome by Ludurana, look in my little blog:

  75. Hits é a melhor marca do Brasil, na minha opinião. A qualidade é indiscutível.

  77. Hey! Hits-Specialittá its one of the greatest Brazilian brands of nail polish. They have gorgeous collors, but the only downside is [and for me the msot important, since I´m allergic] that the polishes are not 3 free, so I can´t use them.

Actually in the Brazilian market only a couple of brands are toluene and formaldeide free.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm also brazilian and loved seeing these polishes here. I bought myself artemis, ares and hefesto, who looks great over other polishes.
And for those outside Brazil who want it...i am unemployed right now and really short on cash to spend on lots of swaps, but I could do 1 swap of two or 3 polishes, since there are 2 or 3 foreign polishes i'd like to have, too. So, if anyone is interested, we can try to work it out (1st come, 1st serve basis - when I have extra money I can have a second swap). You can contact me as vivivdm at gmail.:)

  85. Hey, Scrangie! ^__^
I'm brazilian, and I have to say: Hits is one of our best brands, even though it's not that really known and famous even around here. But they're awesome because thery always inovate and hear what we say, they always make daring choices to put on their collections (just look on their site: they made a whole collection of duochromes!), and their formula is just amazing, always! :D

    ReplyDelete
  86. Thank God! I was super happy to see Brazilian glazes here in your blog.
The Hits is one of the best brands we have and this collection is WONDERFUL. Beautiful colors, perfect finish, very bright, dry quickly and a good brush. Compared with other holos we have here, the Hits are very cheap.
My favorites? Dionisio, Apolo, Zeus, Hera and the topcoat Hefesto.

    ReplyDelete
  87. My faves here are definitely Ares, Atena, Hefesto, and Zeus, but they were out of stock at Llarowe's, so I got Afrodite and Hestia instead, and I'm warming up to the idea of a candy pink holo now. Lol. Can't wait for her to get more so I can get the ones I really want!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Since Llarowe has been out of stock for awhile, I wanted to try ordering these directly from the site. The only problem I had while registering was the field for the CPF number. Is that the equivalent to a U.S. social security number? If someone who has ordered from outside Brazil could help me out I'd really appreciate it. coruscafire[at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks!

    1. Hi, Corusca! The CPF is a document with a number that identifies every brazilian citizen; if the site demands this upon registration, you probably won't be able to complete it at all.

An option would be to ask someone from here (Brazil, I mean) to buy them and mail them for you, as a gift. This collection is still available at stores (and, quite frankly, I have seen them being sold for a bit less than online). If you have any other question, you can e-mail me at louise.araujo[at]ymail[dot]com

      Hope I have helped!
