Awesome gift idea: White Castle Candle.

I've just heard about this and I think it's awesome! I'm a big fan of offbeat gifts and I'm considering handing a few of these out for Christmas....

Do not adjust your screens. You are actually seeing this. It's a White Castle Slider scented candle. Burger and onion. Seriously, can you believe this? This is so awesome, I'm having a bit of a fit over here!

Now, I haven't smelled this, so I don't know how it compares to the real thing, but still... Burger scented candle. Enough said.

I don't believe that there's any sort of continued charitable contribution resulting from the purchase of this, but this week they did donate $500,000 of the profits from the sale to the Autism Speaks organization. That's pretty noble!

Each candle costs $13 and is available for purchase online (WhiteCastle.com) or at any of the 420 White Castle locations Nationwide. (On a sidenote- are there really, actually exactly 420 White Castle locations? Did they do that on purpose?)

  2. As a Brit may I enquire: What is this? What is White Castle?
Sorry, this is a mystery to me....

  3. Testing... testing... Is my comment gonna show up now?

Jaljen, White Castle is a fast food restaurant that sells tiny little cheeseburgers called 'Sliders' and instead of wrapping them in paper, they come in little carboard boxes! White Castle burgers are known for their square shape and that they're steamed on a bed of onions :)

  5. Haha ... I should get one of those for my husband! I had a yankee candle once that smelled like cake and he got so happy thinking I was making a cake till he found out there was none... This would top that . Lol.

  6. I was thinking the same thing about the 420 locations haha!

This candle cracks me up, I'm tempted to buy my brother one. I also think I'm going to include it in my men's gifts post (I will credit you for the find!)

  7. OMG, lol ... 420 locations. I hated the stupid harold and kumar movie so much that I only watched about half, but that's friggity funny.

  8. Lol... I know this might be a stupid question, but do you mind if I ask what the big deal is with 420? I've heard ppl say "omg, that song is four minutes and twenty seconds long" but I've never gotten it.

Also I think I might look into this for my uncle. He hates White Castle but eats it anyway, so it'll be a good gag gift. Thanks for the find :)

  9. omg from the description:
White Castle has teamed up with Laura Slatkin, often called the "queen" of home fragrances, to introduce a candle with the steam-grilled-on-a-bed-of-onions scent of America's first fast-food hamburger.

I think my mom would like one actually, she loves those & there aren't any locations here. I'd be afraid to burn it, for reals!

  11. I wouldn't be surprised to discover that they turned down every franchise petition after the 420th store :P

  12. I might be the only one here, but I just don't get why anyone would want their house smelling like onions and burgers...hmm, must be a north american thing:) I much prefer the traditional scents. Cute packaging I guess.

  13. I missed out on the cologne last year (or the year before?) so I hope I can get in on this before THEY sell out.
I dunno about my house smelling like the WC (with all it's various meanings LOL) but I'm the one in the family - there's always one - who gets the cookbook and the gift cards for Christmas.

  14. haha that idea is too funny. I'm very curious about the scent now; it could either be absolutely amazing or terribly nauseating!

  15. They sold these at White Castle a few months ago and I bought one then and although it smells pretty close to the real thing, these things FREAKING STINK. Even without burning them the scent overpowers everything just sitting out on the table. I wrapped it in plastic and put it in a box and I could still smell it. That gets REALLY old after awhile. It is cute to use as a regular candle holder once the gross burger candle is gone.
