Violent Lips American Flag Lip Tattoo

Every year I do themed makeup and nail art for each holiday and one of the most colorful holidays is the Fourth of July. Usually I do a combination of red, white and blue eyeshadow, lipstick, glitter and eyeliner, but this year I have something that tops it all: the Violent Lips American Flag lip tattoo. If you're into festive themed makeup like me, or if you're just really patriotic, you're going to love this. I'm still freaking out about how cool it is.

What it is is a temporary lip tattoo. You know, like those temporary tattoos we used to wear when we were kids? I had the biggest collection of temporary tattoos, I was obsessed with them. Anyway, getting off topic... The Violent Lips tattoos come three to a package for $14.95 for the more intricate designs and $9.99 for the simpler ones. They're currently on sale on Violent Lips.com- 20% off your order of $30 or more with code 30x20 at checkout.

Each tattoo sheet looks like this. You get a top lip and a bottom lip. You detach the lips and hold them up to your own to measure and then cut away the excess to get a customized fit.

The back of the sheet has some instructions, measurement lines and a link to a tutorial video and Violent Lips' Facebook and Twitter pages.

Once your lips are prepped and you've measured the tattoos, you apply them just like a regular temporary tattoo- sticky side down on your lips, hold a wet cloth against the paper backing and then peel away the paper once the tattoo is fully adhered.

They're supposed to last around 4-8 hours depending on whether or not you eat or drink or rub your lips together a lot.

I haven't tried applying them yet, but I plan on wearing them on Independence Day. I'll report back (and hopefully have pictures if all goes well) then!

I think these Violent Lips tattoos are really freakin' cool. They have a bunch of designs other than the American flag and the Union Jack- fishnets, leopard spots, cherries, words, pure glitter, rainbow, stripes... Seriously, check out the pictures on the website. Their designs are so awesome. I have to try them all.

  2. I thought I had seen everything possible, but this... A company specialised in polka dots/leopard/flags temporary tatoos for lips??? Obviously they are not afraid of bankruptcy...

  9. I was JUST looking at these about 6 hours ago... I really want the pink with white stars. They seem like too much work for me and my always dry as a bone need to apply lip balm every 5 seconds lips.

    >_>
They seem to be confused about leopards and cheetahs though. Leopards have the rosettes and cheetahs have the spots. HUGE PET PEEVE OF MINE.

  12. I'm excited to see photos of you with these. They look really cool, but I'm not brave enough to wear these lip tattoos...especially because I'm a Canadian. Hehe! But even if they had Canadian ones, I don't have the confidence to pull it off.

  15. The photoshopped images all look really cool but I watched the application tutorial and my boyfriend and I were both repelled by the results. And after they start peeling? :shudder:

  17. I use Violent Lips whenever me and my girlfriends go out on weekends, and they always turn out great for us! If you watch the tutorials online before putting them on you should be able to get them down pretty quickly :)
