OPI Pink of Hearts 2012 Breast Cancer Awareness Collection Swatches and Review

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and OPI is once again releasing their signature Breast Cancer Awareness shade I Think in Pink.  This time around it comes with a companion; a sparkling pink and gold glitter.  For more information on how OPI is raising awareness, I've included a copy of the official press release below:

OPI Supports Breast Cancer Awareness with Sixth Annual Pink of Hearts Promotion

OPI announces the launch of its sixth annual limited edition Pink of Hearts  promotion, featuring the classic pale pink shade I Think in Pink and the new sparkle-packed hue You Glitter Be Good to Me.

This duo pack is designed to raise awareness  and funds for breast cancer research and support. In 2012, OPI will donate $25,000  in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. OPI will also donate $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada.

“Organizations like Susan G. Komen and Rethink Breast Cancer offer hope  to everyone whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, and OPI is proud to aid these organizations’ global effort in eliminating this disease,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.

“Breast cancer afflicts millions of women worldwide, and Pink of Hearts is OPI’s way of creating new visibility to honor those who have valiantly battled breast cancer, and support those who continue to fight.”

Pink of Hearts 2012 includes two shades sold in one pack – the pale pink I Think in Pink and the vibrant You Glitter Be Good to Me. This sparkly lacquer is  packed with both micro and macro glitters in pink and magenta, and can be worn alone or layered on top of I Think in Pink. Each bottle of I Think in Pink and You Glitter Be  Good to Me nail lacquer has a special pink-ribbon cap wrap in support of breast cancer  awareness.

OPI You Glitter Be Good To Me - OPI I Think In Pink

OPI I Think In Pink.  A soft light pink creme.  It can be applied as a sheer color at one coat, but I'm wearing it here at three coats and it's almost entirely opaque.

OPI You Glitter Be Good To Me.  A mixture of small light pinkish-copper and two sizes of larger deep pink hexagon glitter suspended in a clear base.  Sheer enough for layering but also opaque enough to wear alone.  I like it best all by itself at three coats (what I'm wearing here), but a fourth coat gives it a little more density.

OPI You Glitter Be Good To Me (one coat) over OPI I Think In Pink.

The formula on both of these was perfect.  On the thin side but not runny.  Neither shade gave me any problems with streaking, pooling, bubbling or clumping.  The glitter shade does need a couple minutes to set in between coats to ensure a lump-free finish, but otherwise there was no noticeable problem with application.  The glitter does best with two coats of topcoat, but I Think In Pink dries glossy all by itself.  Dry time is fast on both shades.

Both lacquers in the Pink of Hearts 2012 duo pack contain no DBP, Toluene, or  Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in  application.  Pink of Hearts 2012 will be available September and October 2012 at  Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure  Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail.  For more information, please call 800-341-9999 or visit

  1. I really like the glitter! Wonder if I could get that one on its own or if I have to buy them together...

  2. I really love both polishes, I'm a big fan of pinks :) and it's great that OPI does these collections for breast cancer awareness month!

  3. Yup, I need that glitter!! I had no idea it was going to be that awesome!

  4. my goodness I need that glitter!! but $14.95 ($20.95 CAN)?!?! :O - that's an insane difference! I don't need the pink so $21 for an OPI polish is insanity :( I guess it is for a good cause...

  5. I'm totally amazed that Susan G. Komen still has any corporate sponsors. I'll take a pass on this and give my money directly to Planned Parenthood - not a fan of OPI anyway.

    1. Damn straight! I think I'll just get the glitter by itself off of Ebay or Amazon, pretty sure an independent seller will have just it by itself. Fuck Susan G. Komen & their backwards, archaic ways........

  6. What a gorgeous glitter! I definitely need that one. I don't wear pink very often but I might get the set just to support the cause.

  7. Pink isn't the first color that I reach for but this is something about this duo that I like. The glitter is so pretty! I will be looking for this one!

  8. I saw one set at Sally's and I'm pretty sure it was marked about $8....but these are beautiful colors worth either price!!

  9. The glitter polish looks really interesting - not your run-of-the-mill shade. And I agree with you about it looking wonderful on its own.

Thanks for taking the time to share your swatches with us! :)
