New Sally Hansen Salon Effects Designs for Valentine's Day 2012

Sally Hansen has a couple new Salon Effects designs out for Valentine's Day 2012. They're really cute and Valentine's Day themed without being too over the top mushy-cutesy-cheesy. Now, I actually like over the top mushy cutesy cheesy seasonal designs (hello light-up reindeer Christmas sweater!) but these are still cool. Most are designs I wouldn't be able to create easily by hand.

The designs are: Are You Single?, Cross My Heart, How Romantic!, Love Always and Speed Dating. Neat feature on the packaging: The design pattern is printed on the top under the name. Nice touch.

If you've never used the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips before, here's a quick run-through of application. First, remove your nail polish and be sure your nails are clean and free of oil or moisture. Second, select the correct size applique for each nail and line them up in order. Take each strip (one finger at a time, protective plastic sheet and end tab removed) and place it against the base of your nail, pressing it smooth toward the free edge and stretching it slightly to avoid gaps and wrinkles. Lastly, file off the excess applique that hangs over the edge of your nail and you're done. You can add topcoat if you'd like, but it isn't required.

I haven't tried any of these designs yet, but Speed Dating is really calling to me... Might try that one on over the weekend!

  1. Oh my god I want Speed Dating too, can't wait to see how it looks on your nails!

  2. Fun designs - but I still hate to spend the $ on film appliques. They look like appliques and not nail art usually. It's a lot of $ for one mani - granted cheaper than getting nail art done and faster than doing it myself. At least it's healthier on the nails than old press on nails that needed to be super glued on!

  4. I have speed dating on right now! I like it but I feel like the larger hearts are too large.

  5. I have speed dating on my toes! It's my first try with these on my toes and I love it! For this design I had to make sure the little hearts ended up on the little toes. But I'm very happy with how it turned out!

    1. Pricey, but will last 2 weeks if you put a gel topcoat over it-so it's a good buy for a weekend in Vegas, upcoming Holiday, vacation, etc.

LOVE the Love Always. ; )

  6. I currently have speed dating on my toes! I love it! I had to try to get the smallest hearts on my little toes, but it came out well! I'll probably do pedis with these from now on because you at most need 3 strips per pedi!

  16. I've never tried any of these before, but I do like a bunch of the designs. I may have to try freehanding some only because I'm on a budget or I'd grab these.
