What is wrong with my hand?! (The unintentional Ombré manicure)

I was scrolling through my photo library and noticed this picture I took during the fall... I wasn't going to post it because the manicure is really beat up and nasty looking, but it's just so weird that I had to share, and hopefully you'll get a laugh out of it!

The reason the polish looks so horrible is because this manicure was seven days old when I took this picture, and it was one of those weeks were I was really hard on my nails. I was actually just getting ready to remove my polish when I noticed that every nail was a different color, so I took a picture of it because I thought it was bizarre (and kinda hilarious).

This is the BYS Color Change nail polish in Orange. It starts off as a yellow mustard shade and then gradually turns a deeper shade of 1970s orange. Normally when I wear mood/color changing polish, my nails change fairly uniformly. The darker "cool" color on the free edge of the nail and the lighter "warm" color on the rest of the nail. Though, for some reason, on this particular day each nail was apparently in a different mood. This isn't normal, is it?

Pretty cool, though. It's like one of those Ombré manicures that were big last year, but without the effort of having to find several different tones of orange polish to wear.

As for the BYS polish itself, I loved it. That's the reason this manicure ended up looking so worn- I wore it for an entire week. I love the yellow color of the polish with the squishy jelly finish, and the color change aspect of it is extremely amusing. I always find myself holding my nails against glasses of cold beverages or in front of the vents in the car just to watch the colors change. When you have very curved nails like mine, you can get a really cool circle/dot of color on the center of each nail if you lightly press your nails against a cold, flat surface like a drink glass or a cold window. Reminds me of these gloves I had when I was a kid... when you went outside to play in the snow and the gloves got cold, designs would magically appear! I loved those things. Probably why I love color change/mood polish so much now.

  1. Funny how they all had different colors. Guess they were all in their own mood, lol. They work well together though.

  3. Haha this is great. Your nails me remind me of little cherry tomatoes or peppers that all aren't ripe yet some are more ripe than others.

  4. Yes! Freezy Freakies were awesome! And they were really warm.
And that's hysterical how the color changed differently on each nail. Wow.

  5. Oh man, I have NO idea how anybody can make polish last for more than two days at the MOST. Mine chips off immediately. Doesn't matter what basecoat I use, or if I wipe my nails with remover or alcohol first, always the same. Dangit.

    1. Same here, usually chipped within a couple of hours. But then acrylic tips lift off my nails too

  7. If that's a 7 day manicure I'll take it. Mine usually look like that by the next day! I don't know why polish doesn't last on me. Crazy how each nail was a different color. I do love the squishyness of this polish.

  8. I think it's absolutely normal to have multiple moods in one day, it is one of the lovely side effects of being a woman that can either be wonderful or very annoying, lol!

  9. Something really fun but the outcome was interesting actually.

  10. Bahah. This is funny. I've never had this happen with "mood" polishes. Mostly I just end up with a funky "french" manicure, where the tips are cooler than the rest of the nail. Which looks really wicked, actually!

  11. Ombre manicure, that's what it's called! Now I can call it something other than "lazy person's gradient mani" or "gradient mani, but the other way, you know?"
