"Nail Files" Nail Salon Reality Show Premieres Tonight

You may have already heard about this, but if not, let me fill you in. Tonight, June 21st at 10:00 PM Eastern/Pacific on TV Guide Network, the first episode of the nail salon reality show, Nail Files, will air. It stars salon owner and manicurist Katie Cazorla and revolves around her life running her salon, The Painted Nail.

This is Katie. She looks fun, I love her smoky eyeshadow and the way she's showing off her nails.

To be honest, I am a little conflicted on posting this. If you know me, you'll know I haaaaaaaate reality shows, but... This one is about nail polish! So I'm half super interested and curious to see how much will actually be about nails, and I'm half afraid it might be all hair-pulling, back-stabbing, drinking and catfights. We shall see. Actually, I won't see- my cable provider got rid of TV Guide Network long ago so I won't be able to tune in for this. You'll have to fill me in on it if you watch!

At least I'm hopeful it will show good salon practices and hygiene and help viewers understand what to look for in choosing a reputable salon. Maybe even learn some really helpful nail tips.

I've actually received The Painted Nail's spring/summer polish collection and it is definitely something to be excited about. It's a set of six vibrant, sparkling glass fleck polishes with a coordinating glitter topcoat, all manufactured by Nubar. I'll review these as soon as I can because they're AMAZING. One things for sure: Katie can sure design some nail polish colors. Not a boring pale pink or red creme in sight!

Anyway, if you do end up tuning in for this, let me know what you think!

  1. Thank you! The hubs and I saw an ad on this the other night and he told me: "Please tell me you're going to watch that." LOL

  4. I watched this on demand last week. It wasn't what I hoped it would be. No many close ups of the nails, and a lot of Katie pulling her hair out. Maybe you can find it on demand and see it too.

  9. ewwww pass. I saw a preview online somewhere and it was a lot of unnecessary drama for drama's sake. If you really wanted to check it out I'm sure the episodes will be online somewhere.

I'd rather paint my nails with HP in the background.

  10. I watched the first episode on Comcasts's OnDemand service a few days ago, and it was awful. Katie comes across as spoiled and a horrible boss. She spent most of the episode screaming at her employees and whining about how important she is. The only part I liked was when Debbie Gibson visited for a manicure and named a bright blue polish 'Electric Blue' after her first two albums. I have the second episode set to record tonight, but if Katie doesn't calm down and stop being so horrible to people, it's likely I won't keep watching.

  11. I watched two episodes on TV guide tonight and I'm a bit disappointed as well. Also she barely showed the polishes she was trying to promote for the entire show. It was a bit frustrating.

  13. What a train wreck. I had to turn it off, early. Just another 'reality' show that focuses on whiny people with too much ignorant drama. If the show focused on the art of manicuring, I'd happily watch. It's predictable, and quite frankly embarrassing.

  14. Oh how sad and disappointing this was! Katie was overly dramatic for the sake of the cameras and from what I've read about the salon on Yelp and what I saw on tonight's episodes, unless you are a celebrity of any sort, you will get sub par service. Sad!!!! I hoped that this show would be something decent but it made almost no sense and it was off putting. I would NOT want to get my nails done here!! Made me glad I do my own nails!!!

  17. I watched the first episode last night and I have to say that I probably won't be tuning in for the rest of the season. I'll give the next episode a watch just to see if it gets any better, but all I kept thinking while watching the show was, this woman is crazy. I wanted to see WAY more nail polishes and manicures than the two second shot of some panda nail art in the first two mins of the show. Definitely a disappointment for me :(

  18. My dream NP show would be like The View, only it would be a round table of MUA NB'ers and about a hundred bottles of polish on the table. NOTD's, humor, and polish. End scene.

  19. Wish I could say something nice about the show, but like everyone else is saying, it was just another "reality" show, focusing on manufactured, over-the-top drama, lots of whining, yelling, crying and "I can't deal!"...made it through ten minutes, but it was painful. I felt partially sorry for her, though, despite her rich songwriter fiance, for she seems surrounded by morons. Ultimately, that doesn't make for good tv, just another typical reality show. Too bad in those ten minutes I saw not one thing related to nails. BAH. Good luck to her and her salon. She seemed cool in the ALU interview, but the show was...everything that should be, and is mocked, mercilessly, on shows like "The Soup." :/

  20. I watched the first two episodes last night, back to back. I wanted to like it, and her, but she comes off as a major drama queen, and emotionally fragile/unstable. I also hated the editing, which made some of the people look mean and/or incompetent. Specifically Jessica? the chick who was supposed to come up with product labels and display stands. They kept inserting her giggle into the scenes she was in, while if you looked closely, you could see she wasn't laughing.

I'll watch the third one, but I don't have high hopes for the quality.

  21. I don't know if I get this in my area. I was afraid that it was going to focus on the horrible people, etc. Not the type of nail polish show we're really interested in. Phooey!

  22. I've been to this salon once and there was no drama whatsoever and she wasn't there. The show is totally annoying, I cannot watch her and don't want to go back to the salon to put any more $ in her pockets!
