Illamasqua Nail Quills?! Now these are cool.

I've never seen anything like this. I just got this press release, check it out:

Luxury, Handmade Bespoke Nail Quills

Cult British beauty brand Illamasqua pushes their avant-garde, cutting-edge credentials even further with the launch of the Limited Edition Nail Quills...

Unique, extraordinary and extravagant, these tantalising talons are like nothing you've ever seen before.

Two Nail Quills per set, designed to be worn on either thumb, are a perfect matt black with a silver tip. Presented in a beautiful gift box they come complete with nail tabs and glue, these are set to become real collectors items. To complete the look, the Nail Quills work best with matt black Nail Varnish in ‘Scorn.

Designed and hand-crafted exclusively for Illamasqua by one of the hottest names in nails Mike Pocock, who has worked with prestigious fashion titles such as Italian Vogue, British Vogue, W, Harpers Bazaar and Dazed and Confused. He has also complemented the aesthetics of visionaries such as Nick Knight, Steven Miesel and Katy England.

“I was inspired by the contrast between Illamasqua’s new black Nail Varnish in ‘Scorn’ and the bright metallic of the nail wrap I have developed.” Mike Pocock

False nails will never be the same again!

A set of ‘Nail Quills’: £35

Nail Varnish in ‘Scorn’: £13

The Limited Edition Nail Quills are exclusive to illamasqua.com and the Flagship Store at 20 Beak Street, London from the end of November 2010

  1. These are very pretty, specially for photoshoots!
I love how the model looks like Shirley Manson.

  2. They are pretty cool but not very practical. Scorn nail polish on the other hand is amazing.

  3. Very cool!

Just wanted to let you know that I used your tip on using artificial nails to cover my 3 (yes 3!) broken nails until they grow out. Thanks to your tip I can now look at my hands without cringing!

Great blog by the way :-)

  6. I think it's quite different that they are more or less just press-on nail tips, but, even though they look like fountain pen nibs with that paint job, they remind me way too much of the pointed acrylics and gels you see in Asian nail art.

  7. Isn't it easier to scratch yourself by accident? Expensive too I imagine -_-

  13. I saw these over at another blog and after reading all the comments on that blog and yours, I'm surprised at how many people don't get the connection. The press release of the beautifully gothic Nail Quills corresponds to the coming release of the psychodrama "Black Swan". The buzz is that it is freaky, sexy, perverted, and alluring all at the same time--a description of the movie which seems to fit the nail quills perfectly. Even though they remind me a bit of guitar finger picks, I find them oddly compelling and could easily imagine wearing them when a fierce and dramatic statement is the order of the night.

  14. That's a wild shape of nail. Love them. Remind me of the Japanese nail art. Now there's some really wild nails.

  15. So I don't know if anyone else has seen the film Repo! The Genetic Opera, but it kind of has an underground cult following. The character of Mag definitely wears nails kind of like this toward the end of movie that she DEFINITELY uses to poke out her own eyes. But I think she wears them on her pointer fingers.
