Chanel Dupe and Vacation

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I'm taking a much needed vacation and most likely won't be around to blog, answer email or check Twitter. I won't be gone long- probably about a week- but I didn't want you to see me stop posting and emailing and think I got abducted by aliens or something.

I'll probably schedule some random picture spam to go up while I'm not around just so it's not so lonely here.

And before I leave, I wanted to put up another picture I've been wanting to post for months!

Index: Chanel Kaleidoscope
Middle: BB Couture For Nails Blind Love
Ring: Chanel Gold Fiction
Pinkie: Sephora by OPI Charge It!

As you can see, Charge It! and Gold Fiction are not as similar as I had hoped- the texture/finish and application were very similar but the shades are pretty far off.

However, Kaleidoscope and Blind Love are near-exact duplicates. There is very little difference between these two polishes. I even did a wear test- alternating the shades on each finger and wearing it for a day- and I couldn't tell the difference. The subtle differences between them are that Kaleidoscope is ever so slightly more sparkly and Blind Love has just a touch more of a yellowy-green tint. Not enough for me to even notice when wearing them both at the same time.

Kaleidoscope is long gone, but as far as I'm aware, Blind Love is sticking around for a long time. And about one quarter the price.... Wears better, too.

  2. I wonder if SH Tassel would be a better dupe for Chanel Gold Fiction? Tassel is a fairly warm gold.

    Have a lovely vacation!

  6. Have a well-deserved holiday, Scrangie! I also have both; I can't tell the difference! However, Kaleidoscope is a polish near and dear to my heart so I have a backup. See ya on the flip side!

  7. I can't remember where I saw the swatches, but I also think that Essie Steeling the Scene is a possible dupe for Kaleidoscope.

    Have a wonderful vacation!

  9. Wishing you a relaxing vacation with points of interest.

That Chanel Gold Fiction is pesky. I will have to check out the BB Couture dupe for Kaleidoscope. I have the Chanel, but the color certainly warrants a doppelganger.

  16. Enjoy your vacation Scrangie, we'll be here when you get back! Good thing about Kaleidoscope, too, since I've been lemming it. Thanks for the comps!

  17. Thanks to you I've got Milani's Key Lime Shine and skipped Kaleidoscope.
Now if I buy this one, I'll have another.
I found it online on Ebay, Kaleidoscope, that is, and another place.
I've just about given up and bought Kaleidoscope. By the time I add all the dupes to my collection, you can see I'm just an addict. And it's sad!

Have a great vacay! Your blog is at the top of my list, your photos are great, your comments are funny and you are a green-aholic, which is a good thing.
    :D

  18. Have a wonderful and safe vacation. Thanks for the dupes post. I find the larger my collection get the more I'm concerned with buying dupes or near dupes.

  22. Hey Scrangie, this may be a totally old question, but do you know if Essie's Shifting Power is close to Gold Fiction? I like Gold Fiction but am not at all after the brand name - if it looks the same, it's good enough for me!

    1. From memory, yes, but it's been so long since I've worn either that I could be remembering wrong! Same kind of smooth, pearly gold finish and I think they shades might be similar enough to not need both!
