Little bit of everything

Here's some of the stuff I'm into this month:

 Green Eyeliner

Brown eyes and green just go together. This one is Milani Shadow Eyez in Green Safari.  The name "Shadow Eyez" still makes me cringe, but the product itself is really good.  And yes, you can get a precise line with it despite how thick the pencil is.

Textured Polish

I've been wearing the heck out of the OPI Liquid Sand polishes (I have Honey Ryder on right now), but the Softouch Effect polishes from Layla are also really nice.  This color is 01(sent for review) and it's a silver sparkle with a velvety, semi-matte finish.  It's not lumpy like the Liquid Sand finish, and it's not a smooth surface like other matte polishes.

Neon-colored Anything

I've accumulated an embarrassing amount of neon things.  Neon tights (Target's are awesome and dirt cheap), neon tank tops, neon jackets, a neon dress, neon eyeshadow and nail polish, and, most importantly, neon hair.  I've been using Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink for the better part of a year, but I switched to Special Effects Atomic Pink this week.  It's essentially the same color as Hot Hot Pink, but extra strong.

This is not even an accurate picture of it.  My camera makes it glow like it does with neon polish pictures and it washes out the color, and when I uploaded the picture it lost another layer of vibrancy.  This picture is after three washes and it's still a little too dark for my tastes, but the color is intense and vivid.  There's actually a stripe of Napalm (bright orange) in there, but I can't tell where it starts and ends because of the Atomic Pink.  I'm hoping it'll lighten more as I wash it, but so far it's resisting fading way more than my usual.

  1. Good to hear from you :)

I love Atomic Pink! I've been using a half-and-half mix of Special Effects Atomic Pink and Cherry Bomb for almost 2 years, and I can tell you, Atomic Pink is a dye with one of the most impressive staying powers you will ever use, especially for a non-salon colour. It's incredibly hard to get rid of if you ever get tired of it, too.

  2. I used to love Special FX atomic pink. I would wear it until it faded then put cupcake pink on top.

  3. You probably already know this, but clarifying shampoo will make the color fade faster. :) A hairdresser gave me that tip once when I wanted to get rid of a bad red dye job.

  4. I love the green eyeliner, its just beautiful! I'm really enjoying Layla 01 too, its beautiful and so much softer than my other silvers! I bet the real vibrancy of your nail is stunning :)

  5. Although I do love Special Effects hair dye, did you find the colour came off on things like pillow cases and shirts if you hair got slightly moist? Good thing is the colour comes off of clothes, pillow cases and towels. Love your pink hair by the way.

    1. Yep! I'm only 4 washes in and it seems to be a lot stronger than my Manic Panic pink. Usually with that, it only bleeds until the second wash. This one is bleeding longer than I'm used to, and gets my neck a little pink if I get sweaty XD

  6. Atomic Pink sticks like shit on velcro! It is seriously the most long-lasting dye I have used, I couldn't even bleach it out. It fades very prettily, too! Mine used to bleed for the first week or so and then I was set for months. I slept with a towel over my pillow.

  11. I'm more into brights this month too-- just got some vicious neon plum gel eyeliner from Avon, and can't wait to spark it up!

I was wondering how you felt about the sandy polish textures... not sure if I'm ready to try one yet.

    1. I didn't like them at first, but now I'm really getting into them. I like them in creme form if they're very basic 'crayola' colors mostly (red, green, blue, yellow, white), but I like every glittery one I've worn so far.

And that eyeliner sounds badass, I think I need to get one too.

  12. Old hairdressers trick...in addition to clarifying shampoo add about a capfullof 20v developer to the shampoo, clip up your hair & do the rest of your shower routine then rinse & condition as you would regularly do. I love your pink hair BTW...I'm 47, wish I could pull it off!

  13. Add a capfull of 20v developer tp your shampoo, cream works best. Clip up your hair (plastic only) and finish your shower routine, rinse & wallah! A little quieter shade of pink. Personally I think what you have is lovely...I'm 47, wish I could pull it off.

  15. The green and purple combo is just stunning. And I adore the vivid pink hair; I had that color in June as well.
