Love glitter, but looking for a new way to wear it? Then you're in luck, because there are four new shades of China Glaze Crackle Glaze for Summer 2012, all glitters:
China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Glam-more (over black creme). This is a vivid fuchsia glitter crackle in a clear base. I'm really impressed with how bright and colorful this looks. I apologize for my ring finger- the polish on it is showing up a completely different color and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Some sort of polish poltergeist, I assume.
China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Gleam Me Up (over black creme). Gleam Me Up is a blue glitter crackle, bordering on aqua/turquoise. Clear base.
China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Jade-d. This one's a light, yellow-toned green glitter in a clear base. It looks obviously green in the bottle, but on my nails it seems to read gold. 
China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Luminous Lavender. A light, blue-toned purple glitter crackle in a clear base. This one seems less densely packed with glitter than the others, but it still shows up pretty well.
Here's each shade over white creme to show the density of the glitter. They're fairly sheer, but they do bunch up and look slightly more dense as they crackle. 
One interesting thing about these is that they dry matte. I think the matte finish and 3D texture looks super cool, but adding topcoat makes transforms them into shiny, sparkly glitter and takes away some of that texture so that they look flat and smooth.
The formula on these is good. It's thin and even-textured, not globby or chunky. It goes on easily and crackles quickly. I do think they could be a little less sheer, and it would be cool if I could get them to crackle more, but they do look pretty nice just the way they are.
I'm still pretty crackled-out, but I have to admit that this new glitter crackle thing is pretty fun. They're super sparkly with topcoat but look completely different without it. My favorite of these is definitely Glam-more, and if you had to choose only one, I'd say go for that. It's really bright and pretty.
The China Glaze Crackle Glitters collection will be available as open stock colors and four-piece counter display. Individual polishes retail for $9 MSRP and will be available at fine salons and beauty supply stores nationwide in May 2012.

ReplyDeleteI was wondering how these would show up over dark colors, so thanks so much for the swatches. I really like Glam-More & Gleam Me Up, but like you, I wish Jade-d was more green (I do love my greens). I also like that these are pretty opaque, considering they're glitter crackles. I just got 2 $OPI blasted polishes in Opalescent Gold & Opalescent and they're pretty sheer (especially the gold), but still pretty.

ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that they look totally different without topcoat - how do they hold up without it? The one crackle I've tried flaked off pretty quickly without topcoat to hold it down; do these ones have that problem?
I only wore it for an evening without topcoat, but it seemed to hold up fairly well. I can't say how well it will last for several days, but it seemed sturdy enough until I removed it :)

ReplyDeleteI wish they would have spent time rereleasing the OMG collection instead of trying to push more crackle down our throats. I still have to use the other 10 crackle nail polishes I bought like a silly little lemming I was. I never liked the look, and you can basically turn any polish into a crackle with one of the bundle monster image nail art plates. Ugh. Thanks for letting me rant. I'm just so OVER it! (thanks for your thoughtful and informative review, however. no love lost for you - just tons of love lost for China Glaze. grrrr).
ReplyDelete@The Lacquered Lady - I TOTALLY agree with you. I NEVER liked them - I bought them (like a fool) and then never used them. I really have lost respect for China Glaze for even pushing these because everyone seems to be so over crackle and on to the latest new craze. I feel like I'm being China Glaze for reiterating my point over and over again. I need to let it go. And China Glaze needs to let CRACKLE go once and for all. If it comes back to them it was meant to be...
ReplyDeleteSaw these on temptalia and everyone was pretty much not feeling them. They were tired of the crackle and I agreed. But the swatches look beautiful! Will I buy them? No. Im over it and even though i did get opi's crackle i still wasnt that much into the trend. Also another thing? Has anyone realized China Glaze is getting a little crazy with these glitter collection? First it was 3d glitter, soon is prismatic glitter and now crackle glitter? I'm almost glittered out here. I guess its cause i might like glitter but dont have that many glittes. Anyways im wanting something different-no more creme and glitter collection!

ReplyDeleteSince they're so sheer and thin, they're a lot easier to remove than normal glitter polish, but still take longer than the average crackle or cream/shimmer polish.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I love these a lot! I never ever wear crackle though, so it would probably be money wasted for me. Shame though as these really are the best crackles I've seen yet... and LOL at your ring finger having that creepy blue haze, I thought it was just my eyes! x
ReplyDeleteI think there's a lot more you can do with crackle polishes than just using them as a crackle topcoat, so I'm looking forward to getting a few of these. Would I prefer an amazing new holo or duochrome collection? Yes, absolutely. But I'm not mad at them for finding another way to use glitter.

ReplyDeleteCrackle polish is a nail trend that I never really got into, but these are nice. Also, I kind of really love China Glaze for giving another polish a Star Trek-themed name.
