Vintage Sinful Colors Medusa

Here's one from the archives. Remember when Sinful Colors used to come in this round type of bottle? I had a whole bunch of them back in the day, and maybe I'm just biased because this is how they looked when I first started buying them, but I prefer the old-style bottle and logo. The new bottle is just so... odd. And bulbous.

Sinful Colors Nail Enamel in Medusa. Medusa is a super rich dark mahogany brown. It has red, brown and gold shimmer that glows and smolders like embers within the blackened brown base. This is one of those colors that looks dark on the edges and light and glowing in the center.

I'm kinda obsessed with this type of finish. It's just so fascinating to me. Red, brown, blue, purple, doesn't matter what color it is. If it has this finish, I want it!

  1. I agree, this bottle looks way better - like better quality. One bottle I can't stand is Nicole by OPI. I don't even buy it because it's so ugly.

  4. Ah, so pretty! Glowy colors are so much fun. I like the old bottles better, too... The new ones look kind of chintzy to me.

  6. aww man, i actually love the new bottles! i tend to shy away from bottles that remind me too much of the 90s--like revlon and milani, to name two. no idea why, just some kind of visceral 90s-related ABORT button.

that said: gorgeous color! i can never get too much of dark, vampy, shimmery polishes. i was actually drawing up a list of sinful colors to buy from cherryculture and considered medusa, but couldn't find a swatch of it, so thanks for this! it's definitely going in my next shipment which will proceed directly onto my body.

  7. Mmm, this is so deep and rich and gorgeous. Reminds me of chocolate. I have one of the old Sinfuls, one of the few polishes I have from my old nail polish collection I had as a teenager (got rid of most of them a few years ago and now that I'm into polish again I'm kicking myself and wondering what goodies I may have tossed!) The old round Sinful I have is a coppery frosty-metallic type polish called Mystery. I haven't tried it in years, don't know how good it would look now days.

  13. That's a stunning color. I had never seen this type of bottle for Sinful. I possibly jumped on the nail polish wagon a bit late! :)

  14. Ugh, I can't believe I got rid of my old Sinfuls back before I knew any better. I had one called Daisy the Pig that I used to LOVE.

  18. I was wondering, do you ever notice the skin around your nail bed/cuticle get darker after pushing your cuticles back? It's not too noticeable or problematic. Still, do you know of any remedies or tricks to get rid of the darkness? Thanks :P

  20. Gorgeous color! I'm obsessed with warm, glowy, lit from within colors too. You're not biased, btw, I've never seen the old school bottles before but the new ones are ugly in comparison!

  21. Beautiful. I love this type of finish, too. That lit from within thing gets me every time.

  23. I LOVE this color. Seriously. I need it bad...it is perfect. Do you have any recs for a similar polish actually on the market. I haven't seen a lot of deep, rich browns like this and my heart stopped when I saw the swatch.

  24. I LOVE this color. I don't often see a dark, rich brown like this that has this amount of depth. Do you have any recs for a similar shade that is currently available out there? My heart skipped a beat when I saw the swatch and then I saw it was discont'd :(

  26. I completely agree about loving the original sinful bottle and the colors. I've been searching for one called Dreamy Night for years now. It was my favorite and was lost during a move in the military - which broke my heart.
