Another thing I remember about the OPI India collection... all the brushes were defective! The bristles are all frayed and bent and sticking out everywhere. Combined with the thinner than usual formula on these, they weren't that much fun to apply. Luckily, OPI's formula and brushes are much more consistent now and I rarely have trouble with them anymore. But, despite its flaws, I liked this collection when it came out and I still do.
I was only oh-kay with the collection. My all time fav collection is the OPI Spain series. <3
ReplyDeleteI have Black Cherry Chutney & Royal Rajah Ruby, such beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, flashback! I only have two of these (Black Cherry Chutney and Keys to My Karma), but they are staples in my collection. Thank you for showing these!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my most favourite polishes ever are Black Cherry Chutney and Moon Over Mumba =)
ReplyDeleteTwo of my most favourite polishes ever are Black Cherry Chutney and Moon Over Mumba =)
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of these- Black Cherry Chutney, Moon Over Mumbai, Charmed by a Snake, Elephantastic Pink and Royal Rajah Ruby. I just wore Black Cherry Chutney a few days ago and still LOVE IT! I'd say this was my favorite OPI collection besides Russia. Russia is always number 1 for me!
ReplyDeleteI have Yoga-ta Get This Blue. I bought it at Harris Teeter only a couple of months ago. My brush was fine.
ReplyDeleteI really like the dark ones and the bright pink. Stop giving me lemmings! ;)
ReplyDeleteare these your own nails? you've done like the PERFECT paint job! lol xox
ReplyDeleteMe encantan los colores oscuros.
ReplyDeleteBesos
I have Yoga-ta Get This Blue--it's one of my favorite blues to wear! I also have Black Cherry Chutney, and just now bought Royal Rajah Ruby after seeing your swatch. You're a bad influence! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am loving Charmed by a Snake! These are so pretty ;0)
ReplyDeleteI recently got Keys to my Karma in a swap, it's a beautiful red, almost jelly-like.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures, as usual!
I've only got two - Yogata Get This Blue and Moon over Mumbai - but I think I'm good with those. Curry Up Don't Be Late is more gold and less yellow-ish than I thought it might be, but still...I don't think it will work fantastically with my skintone.
ReplyDeleteI love this collection, but sadly, I don't have any of the polishes. I always keep an eye out for the Rajah and Chutney ones on eBay, but no luck finding them on the cheap. They are so lovely, though!
ReplyDeleteHey Scrangie - I too loved this collection - Royal Rajah Ruby and Black Cherry Chutney were my favorite shades and Elephantastic Pink is the almost neon pink I always reach for when I am in the mood for a eyecatching not-your-average-bubblegum-pink! It always gets me compliments and OPI should do more shades like Royal Rajah Ruby and Black Cherry Chutney!! They are so gorgeous looking and that duochrome flash gives it a lovely twist - and the names are also proof that OPI can give their polish decent (not cringe inducing) names :) Oh and the formula on mine was PERFECT. I cant wait for Holland collection though :)
ReplyDeleteLush swatches as always Scrangie - you know how to brighten my day :) xxx
Does anybody know why OPI marks their bottles by grinding out a line in the glass like that? I always thought it was when they sent them to discount stores so you couldn't return them and get full price back, but I've always wondered!?
ReplyDeleteIt's actually not OPI doing it. When you get bottles with the serial numbers scratched off (that's what the line is), it means you're buying "diverted" product. Basically, places that sell OPI with the serial numbers scratched out are not licensed to sell OPI. OPI only wants their product to be sold through authorized salons and retailers, so places scratch out the serial number so the bottles can't be traced back to a source (either the place selling them, or the supplier they got them from).
DeleteReally!? That's so interesting. I hate buying OPI at Target because of the scrapes on the bottle, who knew! (You, obviously...)
DeleteI'm wearing Yoga-ta Get this Blue on my toes right now! Love!!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing Yoga-ta get this blue on my toes right now!
ReplyDeleteI want Black Cherry Chutney and Yoga-ta Get This Blue. They're so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThose vamps <3.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any of those, but all look so chic..
ReplyDeleteI have Chutney, Rajah Ruby, Indi-a Mood and Yoga. I absolutely adore Chutney and Yoga <3 Plus, Chutney was my first OPI!
ReplyDeletei have lunch at the delhi and i love it! it was my first opi :)
ReplyDeleteCharmed by a Snake is really out of my character (I think colors like that don't go well with my skin tone), but I absolutely LOVE it. It totally sticks out the most to me out all of these. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have Royal Rajah Ruby and love it but you got me drooling over Get me to the Taj on Time, it's stunning
ReplyDeleteI have 5 of this collection. Agree - it was a good one. Not enough made it into the classic wall. Designers still pick out the 2 reds in this collection to use on runway shows a lot of the time.
ReplyDeleteI have Mon-sooner or Later. It's the best red ever!
ReplyDeleteMoon Over Mumbai and Charmed by a Snake are stunning!
ReplyDeleteI have at least 6 of the 12. 2008 was a great year for OPI. I need to replace my bottle of Black Cherry Chutney because it's almost gone. I love this collection!
ReplyDeleteI have Charmed By A Snake and Curry Up, Don't Be Late. The brushes are fine on mine.
ReplyDeleteI remember this collection very well! :) The colours are lovely, but I only ended up getting Charmed by a Snake, I'm Indi-a Mood For Love, and Royal Rajah Ruby back then. Out of those 3, I only really fell in love with the last one - sexy!
ReplyDeleteOh...man...I must have the jewel-tones...especially Black Cherry Chutney. You're mean for posting these - I want that one so, so bad now!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that you can keep your cuticles stain-free and not drying while swatching sooo much!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful collection. I have to check & see what I have. Are any of these still available? I hope so. Many beauties in this group. I always use your blog as a reference. Great to see so many polishes featured. I love that you show older collections. So many just feature the latest collections. I want to see older polishes whether they're still available or not.
ReplyDeleteWow fun flashback! These are all near and dear to me because I was just starting to really get into nail polish when this collection came out.
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVE LUNCH AT THE DELHI! I just can't seem to find it anywhere in stores =[ I always get it done for my mani or pedi whenever I am at my spa though. I think I'll just give in and order it off Amazon or something. I do however, own Moon Over Mumbai and it's a gorgeous purpley grey.
ReplyDeleteThe OPI Black Cherry Chutney and Royal Rajah Ruby practically make my mouth water, they are stunning.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of my fave collections as well. I have 5 shades from this collection. Lunch at the Dehli, Moon Over Mumbai, Get Me to the Taj on Time, Mon-sooner or Later (my favorite summer coral), and Yoga-Ta Get This Blue! (one of my faves of all times; it's the perfect blackened blue). Black Cherry Chutney is just plain gorgeous! I still need to get my hands on that one.
ReplyDeleteI have I'm Indi-a Mood For Love and Elephantastic Pink-- Indi-a Mood for Love was my first OPI :)
ReplyDeletehow many coats are you wearing for Moon Over Mumbai? I purchased this a while back, but have never worn it because I fear it will be too sheer. It looks great in your photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's either four or five very thin coats. That one was really sheer, but since it is so thin, I can get away with doing 4+ coats without it taking too long to dry. But yeah, it's a very sheer color, just a head's up!
Deletewithout a doubt the india collection is my fav to date... i still regularly wear almost all of the colours from this collection. LOVE.
ReplyDeletePretty! the names are so cute to!
ReplyDeleteKeys To My Karma is actually appropriate now, since we have the oh-so-beautiful Fiskar Karma. XD Such gorgeous colors, I missed out on some gorgeous stuff here!
ReplyDeleteI really want charmed by a snake! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIs Get Me To The Taj On Time streaky? It looks gorgeous and thanks for your swatches! I loveee your blog <3
